Smallest School to win NXN?

Jesuit OR boys team got 6th at NTN in 2004 . They had 1280 students in 2013-2014. Don’t know how many it had in 2004-2005

Western Albemarle got 5th this last year. Enrollment listed as 1,077.

Niwot girls got 3rd at NXN in 2019 and 5th in 2018.

Population listed as 1,221 in 2017-2018.

Battle Mountain CO girls - 3rd at NXN 2017.

Enrollment listed as 954

Boerne Champion (boys) from TX won in 2009.

That year, enrollment was 1530? Although years after they averaged around 1200ish.

Anyone notice that only girls teams from schools under 1000 enrollment ever get to NXN? Never a boys team that small.

Trinity Prep is private, but the boys made it to NXN in 2015. Co-ed 9-12 enrollment of between 450-500.

Private schools don't count in these discussions.

For boys, Potosi's enrollment was about 750 ish when they qualified.

Not sure about smallest winner though.

Willmar girls team made it to NXN several times and done well. Placed 5th in 2016.

Their boys team hasn’t been too shabby either. They qualified for NXN in 2005 and 2006.

Enrollment is 1265.

Not NXN but Niwot’s girls team won Garmin. Only 1200 ppl at that school

None that I know of. When a team with a thousand or less students win then that coach will be crowned GOAT. It’s not hard to take a ton of kids, throw hard training at them, and see what sticks. But successful programs that struggle with numbers is a whole different level of superior coaching.

We got a Crater shill on the board again. It’s easy to be good when you’re running 100 miles a week in high school.

Crater will be insane this year. They should get an at-large berth for NXN if they don’t autoqualify.

They have a solid 1-2 in Gorze and Tostenson

What is more amazing about FM is that they rarely have had more than 20 boys or girls on their teams….. less this year

Aris’s training is really hard so a lot of people quit or choose to never join the team

1530 isn’t small compared to some other schools mentioned in this thread

And it’s a boys-only school.
