Yeah, they're built 115 pounds in a different way than your typical 115 pound professional runner. Their musculo-skeletal system is shaped for the demands of their fighting sport.

Boxers hit far harder than normal people, because they for it daily. Most people can barely fathom the speed and power of a professional boxer.

It depends a great deal on how good the boxer is. Unlike basketball, baseball, etc. you don't have to be very good at boxing to fight professionally. There are pro boxers with records 2 - 25 or therabout. Go to youtube and watch Brian Sutherland/boxer and you will see what I mean.

It depends a great deal on how good the boxer is. Unlike basketball, baseball, etc. you don't have to be very good at boxing to fight professionally. There are pro boxers with records 2 - 25 or therabout. Go to youtube and watch Brian Sutherland/boxer and you will see what I mean.
By that logic if you play for the Bengals or Browns you dont have to be very good at football Tell that to the many undrafted players...

No, that's not correct. The worst tight end in the NFL is way better than 99.9% of everyone who played the position in high school and is a lot better than at least 90% of the people who were good enough to play in college, Division 1. In boxing it is a different story entirely. You don't have to be any good at all. You just have to be able to pass a physical, get a license from the state commission, and have some promoter put you on a card. There are professional boxers who literally cannot fight at all.

The definition of glass chin is the low measure of resistance to this impact. A non-boxer will not instinctively parry and most likely will pass out.

Unless the bigger guy gets a chance to grapple and pull the boxer to the ground, such as in a small enclosed area like a busy bar or club, weight won't matter that much.
If the boxer can keep some distance he only needs a split second to deliver a punch to the big guys face/jaw and it's over. The reaction speed of boxers is crazy and their accuracy with hits is unreal. Way harder to hit a moving opponent in the face 2 or 3 times in a flash than people think. Lots of people miss hits all together in fights.
Even without distance if he strikes first it will be so hard and such a shock to the big guy he's definitely going down.
Some people here are underestimating the damage a well aimed hard punch can do. Being 200lbs won't make your head better at protecting against brain damage.
I remember when Pete Eubank (14 21 0, super-lightweight) was facing charges of assaulting a big guy with a deadly weapon (believed to be a baseball bat, based on the victim's injuries). In court, Eubank told the judge that he never needed a baseball bat when he had "these" - showing his fists. The judge concurred that his fists were capable of the equivalent force of a baseball bat, and threw the case out.

You clearly never played football. All the fighting "disciplines" are specialized, limited mobility scenarios and translate poorly to the real world. But football translates perfectly.
People don't understand just how much more destructive things can be at high speed. Twice the speed, twice the momentum. Combat sports ignore that element.
In one of its early years, football was nearly banned because 19 players were killed. It requires more protective gear than any other sport, but the players are still constantly injured, even though they're not technically even fighting each other.
Tackling also works under adrenaline rush, because it uses simple movements and primary joints which don't suffer from the loss of coordination.

Fighters know how to take and land punches it is what they do. When any of us get nervous in a fist fight they don't.
In 2002 I got in a street fight with an MMA Bantamweight which means weight wise about 135 pounds. I was 155 pounds at the time and can hold my own in a fight and even though I landed a few good shots to his face and even cut him it made no difference not even my 29:00 10,000m endurance. The fighter toyed with me even dropped his hands and let me punch him in the face. When he decided to open up and start swinging back he dislocated my jaw and knocked 3 of my teeth out not too mention 4 lacerations to my face which included 12 staples to my scalp. It was dumb on my part because I even knew he was a fighter but was cockier then hell and thought a few solid haymakers would lay him out it didn't do $%it to him.
