It’s funny - as an ex decathlete - I could do those kinds of workouts but not touch a 1’50”. Maybe 1’55” but never raced it. I hit a 3’12” 1200 in a relay once and raced a 2’36” 1k on 50.0 400 speed - and would have looked at these workouts and said you need more raw speed - but reading these boards seems like distance and maintaining a pace are more important. Goes to show difference between guys who train and race short vs long. Of course dec guys carry a lot more weight (I was 188 for that 3’12” - which was probably the best single run I’ve ever had in any distance).
