As far as the record, normally I would agree that the three will run too tactically, but for Bekele and Kipchoge, a tactical 2:02:30 is in their wheelhouse. 2:01:5x in an even-paced race with great pacemakers, which Berln is great with finding. Plus Kipsang has to push the pace to have a hope to win.

85% that there will be no WR. That is the way it is when races are hyped up to break the WR, except with women. If they say they are going to get a WR, that s h i t usually happens.

And kipsang does not need a fast, fast pace to drop the other two. He can do that in the last 6 miles like he has done before. You're over thinking it. 20 miles of running is going to be focused on dropping most of the elite runners, and the real race will start with about 6-7 miles to go. That is the kenyan way,.

Kipsang and Bekele are both 35, and bekele is injury prone, so time is on Kipchoge's side( on paper).

I think we can all agree is that in the final mile of the race, if bekele or kichoge is still there, kipsang does not really stand a chance.

On paper indeed, I'm pretty sure Kipchoge is the oldest of the three...in reality.

It will be fantastic all in all.

A week ago I also thought this would be overhype and they'd all watch each other.

However, consider that:

(a) Bekele wants the marathon WR to add to his track records. He must be pretty confident given how close he got last year.

(b) Kipchoge also wants the WR and must be confident from his London & Breaking2 performances

(c) Kipsang is also a stud and knows that the other two will take him to the cleaners in the final few kilometres and will likely want to push on earlier

Provided all three turn up and healthy then this could be a race for the ages

Expect this to be a scintillating race.

Also rumour has it Bekele ran a 30 mile tempo in 2hrs 15 despite pausing for a selfie with a lion 🦁

Expect great things 😂

Bekele is going to drop out somewhere between 20k and 30k.

Yes he has been very unpredictable since 2010. However, I don't think he would enter this race against Kipchoge unless his training was going well. Expect great things!

Berlin might go as fast as mid-2:03, no better, and KB won't finish.

Rupp might sniff 2:07 at Chicago, but barely. If I had to call it, I'd say he barely dips under Al's New York 2:08.13.

Recently, Kenenisa has had to communicate his training schedule to seismologists. On his tempo runs, he would pound the ground so forcefully, they would mistake it for an earthquake. Expect great things.
