No, more of an mesomorph compared to most ectomorph middle distance runners
No such thing as an ectomorph, endomorph, or mesomorph. Makhloufi is skinny, except by distance runner standards.

Yes...he's a small fry compared to the general population. But he's far more muscular than many these scrawny almost emaciated looking characters you now see in mid-distance. Some of these dudes I was watching during the intros are nothing more than skin & bones; rounded small shoulders, upper arms the size of my wrists, toothpick legs, etc. And it's even more funny when many of the women's mid-d runners are more muscular and masculine than the men! 😄
Soccer is decent to a variety of body types. There are limits of course , but there are some pretty hefty and pretty tall heavyish players in the mix.
Running as a thick person only works if you have a boatload of genetic speed and can compete in sprints. It doesn't work at all in distance running.
Come to think of it most, if not all sports have competitive opportunity for a larger mix of body types than running, until we have weight classes like boxing.
Expand this to cover athletics / track and field as a whole and you might be on to something. Shotputters, discus throwers etc. are a completely different build from most runners, high jumpers tend to be tall lean types etc.
Actually, if the aim was to be inclusive of as many (fit) body types as possible, I'd add in a shorter sprint (say 60m) for the short people who can explode out of the blocks quickly, and maybe a field pentathlon (e.g. shot, discus, HJ, LJ, javelin) for the coordinated types who aren't naturally huge. Maybe TJ & PV instead of HJ & LJ to keep the coordination factor high?

No, Makhloufi is not skinny, except by obese Americans standards.
It makes sense that athletics and field events would include a huge variety of body types.
I'm trying to get my friend into running because it doesn't require equipment. It's the lazy guy's exercise in the sense that you only need shoes to be able to function.
I honestly think that the shot, discus, HJ, LJ, and javelin events are for very well-off people. It's Duke University tier, while running is Kenyan tier (so it's very accessible).
Also, don't those events require a lot of motor skills and coordination? It's also very skill based as well and you're confined to a small place on the field. I personally enjoy running because I like to "travel." I don't like being in the gym where people check me out - I mean I do, but the freedom is more important to me than hot girls.

Stop it. Dogs also come in those body types. Humans have bred themselves selectively the same way.

What is even funnier, Rojo's spelling virus is contagious, "his" should be "is." 😠But I think that is obvious.
Running is the worst sport because natural talent is what makes a runner successful not hard work.
Natural talent?
We were all born to run, baby. Others may respond to training, or others were gifted with a big heart, literally, not figuratively. We are born with feet, which means we have a predisposition to ... moving ... fast...?
