Not only does Ingebrigsten move back into lane 1 from lane 2, but he runs on the outside of lane 1 for more than 10 steps and then moves even further inside to make sure there's no room at all for Mechaal.

I always knew a lot of letsrunners were pissy crybabies, this thread confirms it. Mechaal should have gone on the outside if he had more of a finish than Inge, instead he chose the riskier inside lane. It didn't work out, done deal.
He definitely deserved to be shoved down at the end.
Ingebrigtsen made a dick-ish move but I don't see it as DQ worthy. I was amazed at how many runners took to the inside in the last 100 and got away with it. I know that we all tend to drift out when tired, but it seems like something to really work on.

Passing would have taken more time and effort, thats why world record attempts rarley have the leader passing. It takes too much time and Mechaal didn't have enough runway.
Dick move and he deserved the nice shove in the back. Maybe even a kick to the head while he was down but I don't think the outcome would have changed.
Agreed. Legal but dick move. Ing has been pretty cocky lately. On instagram saying his heats and semi were too easy. Mechaal was very satisfied with is race despite no medals.
It looks pretty sketchy actually. I thought Ingebrigtsen had an excellent shot to medal after his comments following Monaco. However, he starts in lane 1, moves out to lane 2, then moves back in the middle of lane 1, Mechaal is coming and finally he dives at the line essentially into Mechaal's space on the inside of lane 1, causing Mechaal to throw his arm out to push him--too late.
Pretty close to dq territory and I think that a little physicality is fine in these races.

Screw Mechaal. Ingebrigtsen totally deserved that bronze. He's the one that did all the work catching up to and passing Kiprop. Mechaal was just drafting off of him that whole time.
I dont think wind was an issue in the stadium...
Drafting is fair play. So is jostling for position. Blatantly cutting somebody off from a clear path is not.

0:13-0:14 begins to drift gently, Mechaal is actually moving out a bit which brings them together a bit faster than they otherwise would have. Not looking too bad at this point.
0:15-0:22 thinks he's narrowed the lane enough and/or that Mechalal has faded, runs straight.
0:23-0:27 realizes he's f*cked up and is about to get passed, dives diagonally across Mechaal.

If Mechaal wanted to get that 3rd spot, he shoulda ran faster and better...simple
If Mechaal hadn't drifted to the outside of lane 1 he would have got the bronze regardless of what the douche did.
He would also have got the bronze if Salazar was his coach.
