I feel like they are just a waste. They aren't going to be on varsity. I just want my team to be the best they can. I feel like they will just distract my better runnners. What should I do? I just want my team to be the best they can

You want numbers because there are hidden talents in distance running that are very slow at first but who make remarkable improvements over time, particularly if they get in the summer training, and it will help the others, particularly the marginal varsity guys, to have people to run with or beat for confidence at practice. You simply do not know who is going to be very good in five years, and the fact that some of the slower ones are the more dedicated suggests that they are going to work and get a lot better over time.
Have them over and pop in a copy of "McFarland USA"

I'm just wondering why should I contact people who run 22 min for 5k and have no chance to help the team?
That 22 minute 5k guy could run in the 16s within 2 years. I've seen it happen before.
I bet it was Chris himself who posted that youtube video.
Still, Cicirunner is awesome! If it wasn't for him, I'd never have gotten into the split shorts stages of running....

I meant the part about contacting the ones with more potential. Reach out to everyone.
