This. I grew up in the Pacific and the guys who were, say, waiters were careful to keep one nail really long, usually a thumbnail. The guys who did yard work (I was one) had short nails--if you tried to grow one longer, it'd eventually get peeled back while you were working. Which is not fun.
Pretty sure waiters are still manual laborers unless they have no arms.

Ummm i dont know what you all are talking about but i keep my thumb nail long so i can roll easily. I dont know if it was like a secret men were keeping or nah but it just helps with rolling weed... paper or backwoods...
