I do know the answer to Transgender athletes participating in gender seperate sports. To much testosterone, your in with men - no exceptions, an XY and your in with the men - no exceptions. Problem solvex.
Also calling some one "that thing" is rude and little-mindminded, however, its hard to argue that believing you are something that you are not isnt a mental illness in some way.
Should be an xx division and xy. It's how biology defines you that should matter when competing.

We all suffer the illness of believing we are something we are not in some way or another. And yes, it's extremely rude to say something like "that thing."
I think the winner of this race would be better off competing with boys as a girl if she really just likes competing. Otherwise the backlash takes away from what it's all about anyway and she'll be criticized to no end.

The kid's male. 12+ and 26 flat are not good times for varsity males. It's fairly good for girls. But he's not a girl. One trait of many mental illnesses is the inability to deal with reality and to construct an alternate reality. In this case, there are very real unfair outcomes if common sense can't be utilized by what we used to call adults.

I agree that she should be on hormone treatment and maybe she is. She ran 11.99 in early April, a mark that doesn't appear on the state lists. At the time she was not on hormone therapy.as user "GoogleSearch" noted. Another April article said she was due to start hormone therapy soon. Six or eight weeks of therapy = 0.67 seconds lost in the 100?? That might be about right. Next year she'll probably be over 13.
Class M does not contain the big schools and there are faster girls in the state.
The NCAA does require that all transgender women be on hormone therapy for one year prior to competing against other women.
For whatever it's worth, I'm politically liberal and donated a few thousand dollars to the various Obama and Clinton campaigns...and even I think this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Hormone treatment is not enough. Think about all the steroids she could swallow (and any other drugs that might work) took Kratochvilova to an unassailable 1:53.28 and 47.99. Both are times that are regularly run by HS boys. In other words, all the drugs in the world did not make this world-beater into a MAN.
All the hormone treatment in the world will not turn a HS boy into a girl. It will just make him a weaker (and slower) boy. A male on estrogen-replacement therapy will not make you a woman. Strain your brain for a minute.
This boy can "identify as a woman" all day long, but he should have to run as a male.

Both women and men have all these traits to varying degrees, but IN GENERAL men have an advantage in all of them, making them BETTER in most sports. Use your head.
Well, the treatment for Semenya pushed him/her back to 2:02 in 2014. WIthout, probably 1:49-1:50
