Should workout well for him financially but the product is still suspect. Maybe they can make something special for him but the brand is not known for it's innovation.

Everyone knows that Capriotti dumped Ritz because he told the truth about The Project
Tell me another company aside from Nike who'd allow for Capriotti's antics and keep him employed, excluding the NBA or NFL if he were a pro athlete.
Have you seen the current resident of the White House?

I have similar concerns, but again he must have consulted Meb. Again my guess is that what they make for him will not be mass produced.

Not my experience at all. A long time runner who has run in most ALL shoes out there (never been in an Adidas Boost product, Pearl Izumi, or Newtons) and lately the GORUN Strada and especially the GOMEB Speed 3 are my favorites.
Agreed.
have you seen the lying morons before the current one took office? oh, you conveniently forgot about that, right?

http://imgur.com/gvOfT4CThere is nothing about this on his Twitter, nor does anything show up on Google about this taking place. I assume you are a troll.
Have you actually run in any of the Skechers shoes? You may be one of the most clueless people on this board. Just because Nike makes the most money does not mean their running shoes are far superior to Skechers.

A year or so ago I would have dismissed this as ridiculous cynicism. But these days... I have no doubts this is a very real (likely, even) possibility.
Isn't Jesse the one who just dropped Riley Masters who is now running for - wait for it - Nike?

How wrong you are. Skechers are well designed shoes from an orthopedic standpoint.

Well, actually, it was confirmed online - by not one, but two covfefe

What is a "covfefe"?
I’m seeing more runners in my town running – including a few pretty good ones – running in Skechers. Still just here and there, but I can see how picking up Ritz makes sense. I haven’t had any desire to try them but maybe I’ll rotate in a pair. I’ve sent enough $$ to Nike and I’ve run in just about everything else over the years, except those weird toe shoes.

Hear, hear!
It's amazing how bad Capriotti can be at marketing. Nike has invested a lot of money in helping to make Ritz one of a handful of stars in our sport, and he's totally identified with the brand. All of that goes up in smoke when they unceremoniously dump him and he goes to a rival. Heck, every athlete that Nike drops is a potential PR time bomb.
Of course, athletes are not entitled to contracts when they can't perform, but Nike has consciously made itself an outlier in terms of how aggressively it will cut athletes or cut back on their compensation. That's not the kind of industry leadership you want to exhibit if your goal is to generate good will towards your brand. The Berian debacle is a great example. Nike wastes more money litigating their (legally dubious) case than the the dispute was worth, just to send struggling athletes the message that Nike owns them. The dispute makes front page news outside of the running world, and Nike looks terrible. Can't see how this is good for the company.
Meanwhile, Jesse Williams pays athletes perhaps a tiny bit more than they're "worth" on the market, and in return, his company gets a reputation for being fundamentally decent and for caring about runners and the sport. Seems much better business.
Sketchers is better at business than Nike?
Nike sponsors more track and field athletes and puts more money into track and field and road racing events than any other company by a long way. Therefore their standards for individual sponsorship is high. Nike gave Ritz a good offer. Ritz got a better one from Sketchers. Good for Ritz, he's got to make a living. It's just business.

Ritz may still end up with a doping ban for his time sponsored by Nike as Alberto's guinea pig. He may also end up getting cancer from that as well.
