I hope they do! Would be a great race to watch, and you're right - this would be a perfect time to try it. So many loaded 5ks have turned into the Kenyans handing it to Mo Farah by just staring at him and jogging for the first 10 laps. Kamworor has shown surprising speed at the end of a race before, but at the end of the day the half marathoner is just not going to out-sprint a 3:28 1500m guy. I hope Kamworor puts his money where his mouth is and the Kenyans work together to make a grueling pace from the gun.

I just love speculations like this. :) If the Kenyans work together at fast pace they can probably make it right for Kamworor and make it difficult for Mo to use his patented last flying lap. Kamworor is obviously in topshape and will be a difficult task for Mo this time I think......but......if it will be a slow tactical race we will most truly see Mo outsprint them again. I hope for Kamworor this time. It was close in october last year that I had got the chance to advice him to a world record attempt at 15 km road.....but......unfortunately he got pneumonia. He did a fantastic comeback after that in just a couple of month and won the world XC Champs.

last year early season was undoubtedly his peak with that 59-flat after tripping at the start, charging off to catch leaders within ~ 1/2 - 3/4 mile, all done in worst conditions ever seen in a major race in living memory !!!
i have no doubt that day, in a smooth, paced to 5k only as requisite for 10k, on temperate 0 wind day in zurich, he wouda run

While the sun actually hadn’t set during that race in Paris, it was low in the sky and wasn’t a factor as the race was in a big, enclosed stadium (there was also almost zero wind). In Eugene, the sun will be almost directly overhead and the temperature will be 20 degrees warmer in an open stadium
has been pointed out many times here since at least peking with virtually zilch wind in dragon's lair / bear's cave / tiger's corner or whatever
Still, the fact that there are 29 guys in this field, most of them total studs, means that this thing is going to have to get going early — if the pace is slow, you’re going to have a huge pack and no one wants to be running 12.5 laps in lane two as each lap in lane two is an extra 6 + meters. And the very best guys are going to want to get out well as passing 20+ guys in a sub-13:00 race is difficult, not to mention a massive pain in the ass
this been also pointed out for many years, great example being Henry running a ~ 13'18.2 back in '78 in a downpour with puddles on 1st lane, where rod dixon said Henry spent most of race running wide in lane 3 !!!
