Is there an animal that could break 2:00 in a marathon?

I think we can call the dog in Herzog's film a Siberian Husky and it seems to cover 150kms pretty easily.

There's probably a regular old dog in your neighborhood who could do it.

The Australian camel race they average 100 miles per day for 20 days and it's the rider who gets more tired. I saw once where a camel ran a 10k in 17 minutes. I think a marathon in under 2 hours would be pretty easy for a racing camel.

Human's are better at cooling themselves than horses. It's easier to cool down 150 lbs of flesh than 1000 lbs. Also, many mammals have very insulated coats that they can't strip off like a human can with clothes. But take away the heat factor (run the race is cool conditions), and I bet you would be hard pressed to find an four legged mammal that can't beat a human in a marathon.

The best dogs could beat the antelope in a marathon, right? Antelope more middle distance (crazy speed), dogs speed AND long distance endurance.

I've seen articles estimating, but based on real running data, that many dogs could crush 2:00 with ease. Under 1:30 for sure for the very best. Not shocking at all if you've ever gone for a run with a dog.

Not as much as you think. A horse also sweats over its entire body and its digestive system holds far more retained water that a human cannot exploit.

Horses bred for endurance and trained for it are just light years ahead of humans.

No. An antelope cannot be caught by any extant canid.

I've read that pronghorn antelopes can cover 7 miles in 10 minutes. I don't know what there maximum range is or how long they need to recover after that, but that is mind blowning to me.
