The most decent runners I have met are not at the top corrals

All I will say is that at the AFC half marathon, at about the 5.6 mile mark or so, there were people cheering and I thanked them for cheering for us and they seemed surprised that someone would. This was at a pace that would get about 44:10 through the first 10K. Not the quickest, but anyway. Thanking the cheering people is definitely more common amongst the people in the later corrals. These people are just definitely much nicer.

By your post I surmise that people in the back of the pack are dumber than the people in front.

You really can't figure out why the front runners don't take the time to thank volunteers?

Of course, he, like most elites, doesn't start in the same corrals as we do. Elites are a bit different, and thus, exempt from this argument in this context. Most true elites are good guys.

Obvious to what, precisely?Not everyone who is a runner loves the attitudes that are brought to this sport.Having been slower, and having worked hard to get quicker, as many others have, I have seen the different outlooks at each speed. And yes, say what you will--it -is-different.

Bingham is a great man whom I'd like to meet.He is a lot of what is right about this sport.I am certainly not John Bingham but I am glad he has his outlook.and, btw, he is a good runner in addition to his positive outlook

I will say this though, I've noticed a lot more judgemental attitudes from the back of the pack vs the front. As demonstrated on this thread by OP, the alpha diva of judgemental types. Why the F should everyone run with an upside down rainbow smile on their face?

HobsJog should know how judgmental these people get. I am a hobby jogger, I have experience.
