Writeoffs? Oh, I don't know. My loser brother-in-law pays almost nothing in taxes, has two kids and a wife. They get EIC, I think, and a massive refund each year. I'd guess their tax liability at zero.
I'm married with no kids, get absolutely KILLED by taxes.
Considering the volume of resources he and his family use -- and pay virtually nothing for -- versus what I pay for and use -- I would say that tax writeoffs ARE a form of welfare.
