these are huge time progression between people..any reason for big and small improvements?

When I was in 9th grade I was 5'3" and 115 lbs. By the end of my senior year I was 6'2" and 155 lbs. By that point I had stopped putting on height and that finally allowed my muscles to catch up with the growth giving me improvements of 8 sec (2:10-2:02) in 3 months.
I didnt improve much in college due to poor coaching. All of the 800m runners on the team took a step back that year, I was the only one to PR at all. Then I quit.

that time could've been related to that he only ran it once that season, or many, many other factors
