Probably the first thing to do is to talk with the coach and see if he's supporting of your progress and you being in control of your destiny. If he is then maybe it will work with him.
My experience is that the best coaches are friendly and accepting of input from others, and terrible coaches are not.
Here is my free advice:
Put more effort in the classroom and studying.
Your first sentence was: "........are coach was fired." It should have been "......our coach was fired." You're going to be a senior and that's the best you can do? You will be ineligible if you don't improve your academics, and college coaches aren't going to want to mess around with you.
Run for the new coach. Don't do your workouts and his, that will be too much. You will always be tired or hurt. Either join the team or don't.

I have been coaching my kid for 4 years now and in 2 days she starts working out with her new HS coach.
I will modify our evening workouts around her morning workouts at school so we keep the miles where we want them.

You have something special w your dad , Keep that going , you will have that for your lifetime. be polite , but be confidant that you want to keep the good you have , and not willing to throw that away for someone closed minded !

my dad coached me to several HS american records, and helped me find a great college , I'm thriving my first 2 years in college. He actually does a lot of things better than my college coach . We talk about all the little important stuff that colleges neglect sometimes , and that keeps me sharp .
Good luck , but if it is best for you don't be afraid to create your own mold and you and your dad cut some new ground , and build lasting memories too .
there are lots of ways to be successful , a great team is one of them , but who is to say you cant do your own thing and be happy !
i really have a hard time with coaches that swear at athletes , this isn't the 50's anymore, somethings are wrong ,and that is wrong to do , i wouldn't want to put anyone in that environment , even if he were a great coach.
find the best fit , and do it , if its as a HS team , or as a dad coached athlete doing your best !
Good, ideas so far but the big question is will your new XC coach be coaching through indoor track/winter and outdoor track?
Seriously, it makes a big difference if your relationship has to last 8 weeks or 8 months. If you are in 16 flat shape, now, there isn't that much he can do to ruin you this fall. OK, you might not get the last 10 seconds off with a perfect peak. But, only you can throw this fall away by either worrying too much about the situation and/or trying to do double Workouts while running XC for the first time, while dealing with your senior year.
If you are stuck with him for 8 months, you have a lot more to think about.
I'd do this: 1. Give the new coach a chance for 2-3 weeks. 2. If he is working you out hard or reasonably well then the problem is solved, but if not, try talking to him as others suggested. 3. He will either adapt and problem may be solved, but if not then just quit the team (this will now be late September or early October).
If you quit the team, you can surely find competitive and legit USATF sanctioned road races in your area (or within 100 mi radius unless you are out in the middle of nowhere). College coaches love recruiting fast kids that are under the radar, love to work hard, and haven't been subjected to too much racing in HS. You would just need to run some solid 5K (or 10K) times on a USATF certified course later this Fall in order to have something to 'sell' to NCAA coaches.

He's not coached by his dad people read!! He has a private coach. OP why didn't you just say that in your first post?? Anyway, agree would sit down and talk with the new coach if possible to address your concerns, what you are hoping to accomplish and see what his plans/thoughts are. I mean it's one more season..are you wanting to run in college? If he's totally against it, like others have said, you could do morning workouts and his runs in the afternoon (hoping he doesn't find out) and still run for the team or continue with your private coach and run in competitive XC or road races.
It's your life and running career so do what you think is best. The coach is a public servant paid to help you, not your employer. Cross country is not a team sport and I doubt he can prevent you from participating if you push it.
Sounds like a tough situation. From the coach's perspective, he probably wants a homogeneous training atmosphere, with everyone on the same page. If one guy (or girl) is off doing their own thing, what's to stop other athletes from doing the same? Pretty soon everyone would be training on their own, thus reducing team chemistry, perhaps even obtaining injuries from improper training. At least, this is the theory.
So what do you do? Talk to your father about you two sitting down with the coach, face to face, laying out your concerns and trying to work something out. I know nowadays people hate confrontation. HATE it. It's so much easier to shoot a text or email than to look someone in the eye and voice your issues. But, you three are men. Thus, you should handle the problem as a man would. Don't be passive aggressive. Don't get all boo boo faced and talk smack about the coach behind his back and add to the discord that's already present from the first coach being fired. Just talk it out.
If, after the meeting, something can't be worked out, then go up to the AD and have a 4 way meeting. If THIS doesn't work, then tough cookies. Either train with the team or train on your own. Tough choice for sure. I'd probably stay on the team and alter my training regiment, but that's ultimately your call.
As a HS coach I can tell you that, unfortunately, there are far too many HS coaches with egos out there that do not want a kid in your situation to be successful. You see the problem is that your coaching and commitment as a runner is far superior to your new coaches ability.
When a situation like this arises in HS an ego-centric coach will not allow it to continue as he will be exposed as a fraud and parents and other athletes will wonder why the kid not running his workouts and buying into his BS is far outperforming the ones that are.
Whereas a competent coach would encourage you to do whatever you felt was best for you and give you positive reinforcement and encouragement. Wanting you to succeed in everything and there to help if you need and request it.
I've had a number of privately coached kids in my program- and it was never an issue. Coaches that put kids first don't have an issue with this. In the end, I end up earning the kids and parents trust and I end up coaching the kid and saving the parents tons of money-- unfortunately there are coaches like your new coach that like to call kids names and demand allegiance so they are not exposed as frauds.
It's their protection mechanism, they can't allow you to run if you don't run their workouts.
Here's my advice- sit down with your new coach, tell him what you are going to do and what your goals are. If he is positive and supportive of your plan and just gives you some small advice or recomendations, you have misjudged the coach and continue on with your plan under the new coach. If he is not supportive of your goals, you simply need to continue on with your coach and do not let that new negative influence into your life. Your team is not competitive anyway (and never will be with an ego-centric coach as described), so go run open college races and plan on running your FL meet or NXN regional meet as your culminating event.

Well, new coach came to my house and had some words with my dad, who lost it and punched him in the jaw. When new coach got up he said X, don't worry about coming to practice tomorrow.
