Real Patriot,
I am not here because I am not unpatriotic. That is a common asusmption levelled against foreigners by Americans. If we could extend that logic, then it is right to say that all the Americans who are outside this country, except perhaps for UN workers and diplomats, are unpatriotic. Hardly!
Let me first say something about our training. Personally, I am not an expert on what kind of training a 5k, 10k or marathon runner should have before he/she competes. You probably know this better than me and I don't mean to be sarcastic. I am being honest.
However, I'd imagine that whatever AK is doing is out of goodwill and for the betterment of our country. I don't think they have something up their sleeve. They probably might not have kept pace with modern training methods and techniques and maybe that is why the athletes (who are incidentally exposed) are having difficulties with AK. That is something for the athetes and AK to sort. What I have a problem with is Athletes lording it over themselves with little regard for our athletics body.
Let me give you a clear analogy.
Take the case of your own USATF- I believe that is what it is.
After your Athens olympics trials that were held I believe in California, I am not sure about htis but I believe there were some rules and regulations governing their operations and what international races/meets they were to take part in or not prior to the olympics. Please correct me if I am wrong.
It'd be foolhardy to imagine that Maurice greene or Lauryn williams would just fly out of the US and go for a race in stockholm, Sweden without hte US officials knowing about it.
Am I making sense Real Patriot?
Thatis all I am saying.
As for everythin gelse, like poor training methods and "killing" athletes in training camps, we are basically agreed. I also have a problem with it. However, athletes have to heed the directives of those incharge once they decide to attend qualifiers. Just in case Ak succeeds in what it wants to do to Chepkemei and Masai, this will serve as a very good example. It seems they never learnt from Noah Ngeny three years ago.
