You are a complete idiot. My father was an All American at Stanford in the 200 meter fly. No one in the swimming world refers to it as "butterfly". And, there is no "most important stroke". I swam competitively for a while before moving over full time into running, and the 200 fly is the most brutal event.

His coach wouldn't let him do the sprints but Biedermann swam 1:42.00 ten months after pr'ing at 1:46. The difference was the swimsuit. IM and freestyles, both open and relay, involve all those strokes, by the way. His best 100m free split that I have seen was 47.15, which would be fifth on your list, and that was of course in the midst of many competitions. If he had concentrated on 50 and 100 free, he would no doubt own the world records today.
If you're going to talk about suits, I don't think Phelps ever swam in one from neck to wrist to toe like Thorpe. If you want to talk about advantages!

You're quite mistaken. You were looking at 47.51 not 47.15. World's apart.

Agree .. no way close to touching a WR or even a gold medal in the 50m. Or the 100m.
That is not me: it was Phelps's coach who was quoted with the above claim. It was indeed the age of the magical suit and his was faster than Phelps's own suit.
And the relay is 47.15 in London. He swam 47.51 in Beijing.
