Get Slagowski in Prefontaine Mile

Slago ran the last 800m of his 3:59 mile alone by himself.

hunter is stronger aerobically but yet as fast as him in the 800m and has more experience in big races.

would love to hear your rationale....and don't say because he ran 48.5 in the 400m

Slag has yet to have competition race to him run a fast 800, he did it on his own. Much of his mile was on his own and not carried by pros the whole way along. In outdoor, his 1500 in route to his mile is faster than Hunter's 1500. I don't think distances over the mile really matter for a mile race but Hunter is better at those. Hopefully we can at least see them against each other at Nationals if nowhere else

I don't know much about him. I live in Virginia and only heard of Slagowski last week.

Magut's faster than Holusa and will probably pace any way, which is why I didn't include him, and Kwemoi is a 3:29 guy. Jager and Blankenship are Americans we all want to see in this race.

someone should get the 200 splits of both hunter and slags 800 and sub 4 mile

1) There are already a bunch of N. and E. Africans running

2) There are already 4 Americans

3) He would be the only Euro

4) He is getting better every year and is on fire now nearly beating Centro indoors at the world champs

5) Actually, he beat Willis, Wolde, Wote, Kibet, Andrews, and Souleiman!!

6) Not many more deserve that spot right now than him...

~14 years ago, Steve Magness and Mike McGrath both ran in the Bowerman mile. Magness ran 4:01 and McGrath ran 4:05.

Earlier this afternoon I was in agreeance with getting him in the Bowerman. Now I'm more inclined to put them BOTH in the International. It won't give Nike or the HSers as much publicity, but it will give them a more equitable race to run a realistic times.

70m back from the pack? At the pace they're going, that's a solid 10 seconds, if those two run 3:57 do you really expect "the pack" to finish in ~3:47, much less have that sort of lead earlier in the race?

This. Also, the pack will likely be strung out with guys running 3:48-3:55. They would be in contact.

What are the usual winning times for the international mile?

I'm fine with them not inviting both to the bowerman mile. If they want to race they should do it in a high school race where it is just them.

I also think Drew has the faster mile time in him. I also think drew going to Oregon helped get him in the mile.

You want to run in the big division 1 track meets go to a division one school. You want to run to get a bit better slot at pre, go to u of o.

I'm picking drew to break 3:55 .

wejo and rojo you two are bit&hing about kenya blowing it with their marathon teams for rio, why not get this on the front burner and make sure hunter and slag are in the same race! THIS IS WHAT THIS SPORT NEEDS

They won't be that far behind.

Let's say the race is won in 3:48.0.

That will most likely come with a 54.5 final lap.

That makes the leader at 2:53.5 at 3/4.

If there are ~12 guys... 12 guys between 3:53-2:57 is probably to be expected. If they are on 3:56 pace, they'll be at 2:57 also.
