If you had to imagine someone who is clean and running WRs, Genzebe would be a good pick. The particular family gene pool she comes from is ridiculous. It is no surprise that Randall Cunningham's daughter is a good athlete. Or that Centrowitz #2 is a great runner. Genzebe grew up seeing her sisters run fast and she assumed that was the floor, not the ceiling. What if Galen Rupp had a few younger brothers who ran? Would it surprise you if they were even faster.

When athletes win, they normally look better than everyone who finishes behind them. That is why they win. Look at Cram and Coe and Ovett. They looked great and everyone else looked shattered behind them.

Of course she could be dirty, but so could anyone.

For Steve Cram and other ridiculously gifted athletes, there are "moments when you can do no wrong". The reason they are "moments" is that they happen once or at most a few times. For Genzebe it has been *every* race except the Beijing 5K. She was very beatable until age 20, then took a drop for a few years, and now is almost invincible (with that one hiccup)

If Cram was like her he would have cruised 3:46 every week and dropped a 3:41 when he felt like it.

Not true. They usually had plenty of company until the final lap(s).

Paula had a 10000 PR within 7 seconds of Tiru, 2 seconds of Defar, and a faster 3000 than both.

Tiru won plenty but never dominated the way her sister does on a regular basis.

That's because that's Genzebe's strategy. She likes to break away early. She doesn't trust in her kick as much as her sister did.

That's only because tirunesh and meseret raced differently from these two. they were contect to sit on the pack until the last lap sprint. The usually ran with the pack until the last lap even in years when they ran the fastest two 5000m times (14:12 and 14:11) which still have not been surpassed to this day.

Hassan's arm action is really cool, she's running super free and natural -- just the way she feels it. Why mess with something that works!?

That's fine for the marathon and ultras, but for 1500 it is weak. Genzebe kills her on power output almost on this alone.

About 35-45% of the supplements you find in a GNC will contain banned substances (steroids/stimulants). It is for this very reason why "clean" supplements though highly effective are not worth the risk of testing positive.

Yes, it does happen as banned substances are often found in supplements. That's why athletes need to watch what they are ingesting, and not just from a "read the label" perspective. Get brands that are tested for quality control, or better yet aim for adequate nutritional intake to minimize reliance on supplements. It's not an excuse, they are responsible for what they put in their body.
