Centro is more of a mile-3K or mile-5K type guy as opposed to an 800-1500 guy so finishing in 1:51 could be a great workout for him.
The workout intervals only covered a mile and a half.
Usually a mile pace workout covers two miles - 8 X 400 for example or 4 X 800.
That was a nice workout but I've seen better and I'm sure Centro has done better.
And I am sure El G has had harder mild pace workouts.

I would have to agree that Centro looked tired. He barely held on, and beat Andrews by only .07. That is about as slim of a margin as there is in a 1500.
Congrats to Andrews on a nice effort. I watched it live on tv, and, nothing against Centro, but when I saw Robbie blow by Blankenship as if Ben were standing still, I was shouting for Robbie as they came to the final straight.

What was your 800 in that shape?
This gets Centro ready for going out in 1:57 at world's and possibly closing in 1:51. He closed in 1:50 here off of a slower pace.
Coe workout you reference was on a slight downhill course
How about Webb's 9x800 workout, the last one was supposed to drop down to 1:55, and he "accidentally" ran 1:48

This is a bread and butter sharpening workout for a lot of the Oregon milers. I remember AJ Acosta saying a while back that he had done a similar workout (if not quite as fast). It's impressive, but it's nothing beyond what you would expect for someone in 3:50 shape. Like others have said, I'm sure Centro's done more impressive workouts.

Makhloufi ran every interval at 13 or 13.1 seconds/100 meters -- well under 1000 WR pace. Kind of surprised that he didn't break Ngeny's record.

What happened? Should have been faster!
Impressive but not that tremendous. He is, at his best, capable of the first two reps with zero rest so he should not have been shattered when he began the third rep. Four minutes is quite a long recovery from what was clearly a sub maximal effort. In a strange sort of way it would have been more impressive to start with the 1:51 and finish with the 1:57! (Not that this would have been a sensible workout but it would show him holding a reasonable pace under conditions of real fatigue.)
Also you need to factor in things like the weather on the day, was he paced? what training had he done the few days prior to this session? etc., etc.
