Nope. Unless you go out at 5k pace then there is simply no reason to really die apart from lack of toughness if you are even half trained.
The stress at that pace and the beating up of the legs just doesn't add up to cratering.
Now you may FEEL like you are dying but that doesn't mean you have to be going REALLY slow when that happens.
