Boulder Babies

listen up: where in boulder do you live? i too not long ago was a college runner in the northeast... maybe we could hook up for a few runs in what tomorrow what will assuredly not be the bitter cold.

Y'all keep missing the point. Why are you guys such a bunch of babies? Complain, cry, bitch, gossip. Step into the big picture. Shut up and run.

I agree with Buffy. Runners move to Boulder and hope to get better by osmosis.

i live on the hill... i am not in the best of shape. i still run like twice a week but its pretty short like 5 miles. im in grad school so time is a little hard to come by. if you want to go on a shorter run once in a while let me know. my email is

I think it would be pretty cool to train in a place where a bunch of elite runners were based. Seeing faster runners definitely inspires me. In the 90s in DC it would be cool to be out on a run and someone like Holman would fly by. Don't have that too much now in Chicago. Some good runners, but you definitely don't see as many guys rolling on the lake front or inner lake front paths. Lot of slow people like me I guess!

Boulder strikes again. An official denouncement of a war against Iraq.

A huge amount of money each week flows from the US to Iraq through the purchase of oil. Why don't the Boulder Babies ask for the community to put their money where their mouth is and stop the purchase of gasoline. They can jog to work or ride bikes.

Nice try, fella. With polls showing something like 60/40 war/antiwar sentiment, hardly seems weird that a liberal college town would be general antiwar.

By national standards, a huge number of people in the PRofB walk or bike places. Or ride one of the many shuttle buses in town. And as far as the City buying gas goes, it was one of the first places in the country to buy a fleet of alternative fuel vehicles for City use.

Point isn?t that whether or not you agree or disagree with those policies/politics/people. Point is that the stones you?re throwing are off the mark.

HUH?!

What possible correlation is there between an official denouncement of war and flow of money to Iraqi oil barons? Buying Iraqi oil is not at all contradictory with denouncing a war with Iraq.

It's the people who support a pre-emptive strike on Iraq who should put their money where their mouths are and stop buying Iraqi oil. They're the ones who are anti-Iraqi.

As for me, I buy only American oil.

btw, isnt boulder one of 40+ cities that have passed anti-war resolutions? one of them being chicago? confirm or deny.

Boulder has better weather than the Midwest, the South or East Coast and it is at altitude so if you're going to deal with any kind of winter elements (i.e., non-California) you're better off in Boulder. It is the top place to train for distance running in the US. Folks are well-educated, the city is clean, the support is strong, the food is good, the trail choices are numerous, there is some nightlife but it is not excessive, and so it goes--the locale of Boulder is virtually unbeatable on many fronts. Y'all are just jealous. Buffy was hyping up Denver in another anti-Boulder thread so s/he is probably trying to start another Front Range pissing contest.

Most of you need to be moved into the slow group. Read the original post. The point has nothing to do with the city, the night life, or the lack of dog ownership. I pointed out that the Boulder runners seem to cry over everything. When not crying, whining, or gossiping, they dream up some way to keep Wetmores' name in the mix. I like Boulder but I don't think that it is the center of the world. What you don't know is that I ran 100mile weeks for years in Boulder before most of you were born. No big deal then and no big deal now.

Sorry, dude, but Goucher has been dethroned by Torres and is soon to also be dethroned by Dathan. Sorry to burst your bubble. Not running (or running 6 races in a crappy Boulder indoor meet) does not qualify you for being any good. Otherwise, I could sit here and spout off about how good I could be if I would just get off my ass.

Typical of how you guys distort the facts. You could have said "between 50 and 100" and you wouldn't have been less accurate. Maybe you could get a digital thermometer so that it wouldn't be so difficult for you to read. Last week we had one day with a high below freezing. The wind chill that day was 5 below zero.
