Is Hunter already 'Chronologically Older' than Fernandez was when he went 3:55 at 18 in 2009? (By himself with with nobody to hang onto!) German turned 18 in mid November of 2008 right? - so that still makes him way faster!

grant ran sub 10:20 in 8th grade, i don't think success from day one in running would incentivize cheating. same goes for drew (4:14 or whatever sophomore year for 1600)

i know i shouldn't feed to trolls but honestly give it a rest, this is what you do with your life? hate on successful runners? this is why we don't have a popular sport.
Anybody who is an American citizen should be supporting Hunter. He seems be to be on the right trajectory with training, a great coach, and can clearly run faster than he did today in early February with respiratory congestion. More power to him! Would love to see him go about 3:56 at Milrose and certainly has a shot at taking down 2 mile record as well.
All the other negative crap is childish BS. Let's hope this super talent will continue to realize his potential. Congrats from this old guy!

So yeah Hunter is older. He is also pretty much the exact same age as Grant Fisher.
Running 3:58 is still an awesome time and we can debate forever the advantage of college training (i.e. just having team mates to run with is nice) versus age.

Jim Ryun towers above all these other FINE high schoolers. Refer Ryun's 1965 Kansas state meet. Not bashing Hunter or Webb, but they just aren't in Ryun's class IMHO.

Ryun ran his 3:55.3 HS record, at the time, and won his race against the reigning Olympic 1500 champ, Peter Snell. I doubt a HSer will ever accomplish such a feat again.
