What surprises me isn't his 3:05 time in the outfit, it's his lack of sweat. It looks like he is wearing wool trousers and a wool or heavy cotton shirt. Yet, there is very little sweat. I don't know how hot/cold it was is Harrisburg, but I'd be sweating through that gear by mile 5.
I am surprised only one person has mentioned it, but it is pretty clear that Leroy is running to avoid masturbation... I am glad his brother in law could set him on the right path.

Any chance this is Brian Sell?? He did an interview around the time that he retired and when asked if he was going to keep running, he was, like, "Not really, but I think it would be funny to show up to a 5k or something in full Amish garb, line up at the front and ask, 'How far is this 5k then?' and then blast a fast time."

Amish life is a life of manual labor. I've got an idea this "Friends" body is very efficient at temperature regulation. I'd be willing most posters really have no idea of what hard work is. The Amish work from sun to sun, runners think hard work is 10x400.

He is legit. But if you are adapted to the heat- you sweat more, not less.
This guy is a wizard of some sorts. He's actually levitating!
I live outside of Reading PA (about 30 min from Lancaster). It's not uncommon to see some Amish young adults (men and women) in the local road or trail races in Berks County (I'm sure there are more Amish runners in Lancaster or York Counties but I don't travel to those races just because of schedule). I don't recall their times from these races though but I have seen some of them place in their respective age groups or overall race races. I have also seen them run in some kind of running shoe while still wearing their normal life attire - nothing "top of the line" like what most runners wear, but something simple, low cost, and athletic structured.
On a side note: I think I saw that guy run the Garden Spot Marathon a few years ago. But then again, Stolzfus is a common Pennsylvania Dutch name around here, like Moyer and Yoder.
Don't let them amish fool you. Some of them are into some pretty seriously weird stuff.
