To be fair, the Slovakain walker Toth stopped during the 50km walk to take a leak and still won by nearly two minutes.
By the way, shouldn't he have been disqualified for running to the toilet?

To be fair, Toth took a dump not a piss. No need to stop in a Porta Potty if you have to pee - you just pee yourself. Its the WCs - you don't stop to take a piss out off modesty inside a Porta Potty. Besides - it is very unlikely you would have to pee at 35 km into a race fighting dehydration. And why should he by DQd ? Would you rather he crapped himself ?
I am deeply suspicious of how Mo suddenly went from average to unbeatable a few years ago, but I have to admit I found this hilarious. Psych of the decade.

There is nothing psychic about a 2:19 last 1k. It's just fast as crap.
Yes, he pscyhes the likes of Hagos and Kejelcha in the sense that they don't think they will beat him sot hey don't want to push the pace and then c ost themselves a medal.
The only way to get him in the 5k would be for the people we konw had no medal shot (Merga,all of the kenyans not named Ndiku) had worked as rabbits. But good luck getting that done.
Imagine the reaction if the US coach went up to Ryan Hill and Ben True and said, "Hey we know you guys aren't going to medal, so we need you to push the pace so Rupp can have a shot in a fast race."

Or everyone waits until 200 or 300 before kicking. At least some of them are faster than Farah, the problem is they burn out and slow down.
Farah would try to start speeding things up before that but someone could serve him his own medicine by jumping in front and slowing down again.
What they all really need to do is find doctors who can help them drop 5 or 10 pounds without losing their fitness or getting injured. Until then it's no contest.

I thought that water stop was a lost opportunity for the rest of the pack. If I was one of those runner, especially if I was leading, had I known Farah peeled off like that, I would've thrown in a surge right then and there. Throw him off his game, make him have to chase a bit to recover, and get to him just a bit.
That's the problem I see with Farah's competitors. They don't know how to adapt; they just stick to plan and hope things work out. I recall Frank Shorter talking about how in his gold medal marathon, his plan wasn't to make a move before the halfway mark, but the lead pack slowed too much for his comfort at mile ten, and to stick to his plan would've meant sacrificing his momentum. So he adapted, and kept going at his pace, and made his move early.
These guys blew an opportunity to throw in a jab, and make Farah's confidence seem cocky. At the very least, it could've screwed with him a bit, made him think "Damn, that was a big risk I took." All it takes is a little bit of doubt like that. But the let him do his thing, and now they all can go home wondering, "What if I'd run MY race, and did MY thing instead of sticking to the plan? Might I have a medal? Might I have gold?"
Not sure Farah will be able to hang on until2017. All good things come to an end.
Farah, I think, will be at the end of his peak next year. If wrong - I would be delighted.
If he moves to the marathon, will he have the legs to be a marathon WC winner. Most of the evidence now points to younger runners - without track pedigree - who win the big titles. Just like the 19 year old Eritrean (Ghebreslassie).
In addition - even though Farah is a wonderful stylist (for the track) that technique (high back kick) is not economical for the marathon. Runners like Ghebreslassie (Eritrea) have lower knee lift and a more rapid striding action. That is why I was always astonished that Zersanay Tadesse never became a world beater in marathons. Tadesse's style (rapid striding, relatively low knee lift, slight forward lean) was ideal for marathon.

Actually, he was 1:!5 up and the lead went down to 0:45, but generally you are accurate.

In the women's 5000, a runner did EXACTLY what needs to be done to beat Farah: set a blistering hard pace from early on and ran the fvck away.
Ayana was outkicked by Dibaba in a DL 5000 just weeks ago, and Dibaba of course is the best 1500 runner on earth right now. Facing her in a 5000 is not unlike facing Farah: YOU WILL NOT WIN BY MAKING IT A 400/800/1600 meter race.
So did Ayana sit around and wait until 400 or 600 to go? NO. She took it to Dibaba from way, way out.
Ndiku could beat Farah the way. He probably has 10 seconds faster 5000 ability. Kamworor crushed the world XC after sprinting the first 400 and laying down a blistering pace start to finish. He could murder Farah in any distance from 8k to the marathon. If he actually went for it. But these guys jog 14:30 pace because the need a "rabbit"?
Sadly, on the track, the East African women seem to possess more b@lls than the men.
