I don't know if I believe any of this. Perhaps the unrepentant part (AN unrepentant cheater BTW), but he maintains he was wronged, and perhaps his pride extends to a place that he won't apologize for being duped/naïve. This isn't me claiming his innocence, just making a case for that specific behavior.
Otherwise, I don't see him as despicable, and I don't think his attitude reflects that of a ruthless cheater who embodies the worst, certainly not the worst of this great country. Perhaps his attitude toward Weldon at Pre Classi/USATF was harsh and standoffish, but again there is the possibility that he doesn't want to defend himself over and over and over and...
This interview seemed very open, very real, and had the feel of a man who just wanted to work hard, do what he loves, and represent his country. He DID seem like the haters affect him, even if he tries to look otherwise (aka unrepentant) and the pauses he took were atypical at best, curious at worst.
Of course, I completely agree that he may just be an extremely wonderful actor and liar.

Mo has no abnormal levels. His coach may have accusations against him and Mo may well have microdosed, but until he fails a test, must be seen as clean. The two situations are completely different.

Gatlin's comments in his interview with Lewis Johnson after the race was total BS. Completely preditated and contrived. Only truthfulness to it was the sting that he showed in getting beat which shocked him. He had planned to wrap himself in the American flag to divert the anti-drug talk. I know Gat well enough to see through that BS. Then he gives the most nuanced, change the subject answer to LJ's question about being so fast at age 33.
To use the massage cream story and stick with that all these years when evidence clearly showed it impossible for any steroidal cream to be applied prior to his drug test at the Kansas Relays and cause the postive test that he was caught for. He and Trevor Graham were working with Angel Memo Heredia and thats what caused the positive test. Today Gatlin and Dennis MItchell (and word has it that Trevor is consulting) are using Heredia and I just wish someone would dig around a little deeper on this.
Gatlin tried to rebrand himself knowing the critical talk swirling for months and as evidenced on this thread it worked for many but to those a little more knowledgable it was nothing but BS.

THIS is the only hope in the world of sprinting. Every other sprinter in that final has been busted or is protected. Bolt may be "The Savior" of the IAAF right now (in facade only), but Bromell and DeGrasse represent the hope that professional track can ever have a clean sprinter ever again.....
