I don't follow this at all, I'm lost so fill me in:

Kara is sponsored by Oiselle? So someone insulted her on twitter and the CEO had her back by saying (towards the insulter, not Kara): "how 'bout I step off the track and punch you in the face..." ?? But she put her comment in quotes......as if those aren't her words, but she is quoting someone else? Who would she be quoting, and why apply it here?

As I explained, I have NO idea what is going with this "story." Please try to make me understand. Thanks.

Bergesen is saying "how 'bout I step off the track and punch you in the face..." as if she were Kara talking to the insulter. If you look at the rest of the responses to Kara's tweet, they're mostly along the lines of commending Kara for posting a reasonable response.Bergesen was the only one who told her to "punch [the insulter] in the face." Nice. I'm not feeling inclined to buy anything from Oiselle, and I should be right in their demographic.

Remember when Goucher keep using such wordings as (both on twitter and in interviews) "my truth," "our truth," "his [Salazar's] truth," and "their [Nike] truth"?

I like Goucher and Fleshman but they're both starting to look really sad. They know Salazar and Nike are not going to end up being "punished" or whatever the hell they expected and now they're just lashing out over social media. Not to mention both of their athletic careers are dead.

16 following those two on twitter. otherwise i enjoy them and find a lot entertaining.

the "David and Goliath" stuff is a bit stale, rather hear about their new products and athletes.

The rest, Nike, Under Armour, adidas, New Balance, Saucony, Brooks, they are all sporting goods manufacturers, making shoes, apparel, accessories, hardgoods, etc.

So the "shoe companies" are quite obsolete, like Oiselle is only an apparel company, as is Prana, etc.

Maybe the "shoe" companies should term her an "athlete" and not a runner.

Hey, didn't Kara say she was coming out with more info on Alberto/NOP like 2.5 weeks ago at USA's? Maybe we should put a clock on the front page to track how long it's been since that claim.

Hmmm... Maybe no one cares anymore because of how insignificant all her other claims turned out to be.

You definitely hit the nail on the head.

Nike makes apparel that competes with Oiselle. Would it be okay for a Nike Athlete to make a big public appearance at the opening of an Under Armour store? Adidas?

If Oiselle wants to exist outside of the running industry, that's fine. Maybe they should sell other brands' product in their store if they think that it is best for them in the long run.

And to the athletes, if you want to be a free agent and wear all brands and attend all events, that's a fair avenue. But once you sign a contract and become an employee of a company, show a little bit of common sense and don't go stepping out on them in public!

It seems likely she is referring to something related to Nike athletes at the Oiselle grand opening. If that is the case, I'm still trying to figure out what the heck she's talking about? What is wrong with a sponsor protecting their brand? If Oiselle sells clothes that on some level compete with Nike, why is it good for Nike to have their sponsored athletes at the event? Nike has made an investment in an athlete related to promoting their brand, market image, etc. If they don't want their athletes at a promotional event for a company that sells products that, on some level, compete with Nike products, why is that hard to understand? Nike is not in the business of creating a fraternity of runners sharing stories and singing songs around a campfire.

Goucher and Fleshman seem to view themselves as the world's moral compasses. Clearly sponsors should show respect to athletes they sponsor, and I'm all for athletes having some power, but I really think the Goucher and Fleshman's of the world sometimes forget who needs who to survive.

Is that too soon with a Jared reference? I couldn't think of any other restaurant spokespeople.
