Kip was even faster at the bell in 48.3 !!!
See the gap between the pacer at 48.41 & cruz who probably went thru in 49.5/49.6 ( & held on for 1'42.5+ ) & realise Kip went out even faster than the pacer !!!

Does anyone remember a high school kid, say about 20 years ago who would run in the upper 48s for the first 400 and hang on for sub 2:00. He ran this way all the time. He was a white kid but dont remember what state he was from.
