Planet Fitness is messed up! Womaen's membership cancelled after she reported there was a man in the ladies locker room.

Best response on any forum I have seen. If everyone just spent more time being polite and courteous- most "issues" would be "non-issues". Instead people fly off the handle without trying to see the other person's view point.

You have no idea who you are sharing the locker room with. Just because some guy has the same plumbing equipment as you doesn't mean he is any less or more of a threat to you than someone with different equipment. Having a gender identity issue isn't a perversion. These are not just guys and girls who have weird fetishes. You should really check your ignorance at the door before entering into this conversation. Just because you don't feel a certain way doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

How dumb is that? You would still theoretically have biological males and biological females in the same locker room. The bigger issue here is Planet Fitness outlined policies and procedures and stuck with them. If people don't like the policies and procedures they can go to another gym or change at home.

There would have likely been much less of an epidemic with HIV if people didn't have to hide who they loved or wanted to have sex with. Bath houses existed because both married and unmarried men to go meet other men without the stigma of having to come out and risk being ostracized. And now people still want to tell gays they can't marry because hit will "hurt the concept of family". If straight people want gays to become less promiscuous, then let them become married so they can be as sexless as a heterosexual marriage. .

This is getting way off track. It has nothing to do with someone harming someone in the locker room. I started this thread because I thought it ridiculous that Planet Fitness allows a man in a woman's locker room just because he "identifies" with being a woman. Whether our culture is strange or paranoid about being nude is really not relevant. I personally don't care who sees me nude but that is not the way society is. Most women would rather not have a male in their locker room. The stupid church and prude comments are being made by either people that annoy comprehend what is happening or people that believe everyone should hold their opinions. That is intolerance no matter how you look at it.

Having worked as a part time trainer (in addition to my corporate job) at different gyms over the years, I have concluded that at least 80% of them are "managed" (if you could call it that) by teenagers and/or lifelong gym rats who have never had a real job. Customer service and communication are practically nonexistent, especially at big chains like Planet Fitness where the pay scale is extremely low.

I find it amusing that so many people have ripped this woman apart for being bigoted and intolerant based solely on what the Planet Fitness PR department says in its "statement." The teenyboppers in charge at that particularly location probably were the ones who mishandled the situation, pi$$ed off the woman who complained, and then tried to vilify HER when she embarrassed them by telling her friends at the gym what happened. If Planet Fitness axed everyone in their clubs who ever gossiped, they'd have no membership.

Maybe a fairer policy would be to say that "men and women with penises" use one bathroom and "men and women without penises" use the other?

At least if the policy is out there and everyone knew the policy then it would be more fair to the customers.
