Incidentally, the results on letsrun have the women's 4th place runner as a Jennifer Needle, age 44 of Tampa. That has got to be a mistake, as a Jennifer Needle-Brown (age 43 last year) ran a 52 minute 5k at Moffitt May 10, 2014.

Obviously, we don't know if his contract was cut BUT, as someone who has been following this sport for almost 50 years, I've noticed that our distance runners seem to race less.
It seems to me that guys in the past ran more races- road and track.
There were 10K road races and they were often glorified tempo runs.
Maybe because the money wasn't as good and was under the table.
I don't know and there is nothing scientific to back it up. I just seem to remember more races with the best runners going head to head.
I find it funny about the GVSU assistant coaching thing for Ritz. I have been to many GVSU meets and meets they have been at and I have not once seen him! Does he actually coach there or was it something he said he would be doing just to gain access to the GVSU facilities?

In 3-4 years i'd love to see him racing tons of 5 and 10k as training runs
I would love to see him go for every US Road record from 5k to 25k.

Dathan jogged (for him) last year's River Bank Run 5K in 16:52. First time he's run any RBR event in the large city nearest his hometown, Rockford.
Love to see him run the marquee 25K some year. Probably not till he's past his prime, since its appearance money/purse don't match what he can get at bigger spring races. Has a wife and 2 kids to support.
A game Rupp is only 10 meters off A game Farah.Farah brings his A game on a regular basis while Rupp most often brings B+ game.Ritz should stick with his formula of racing cross and some road races. I bet he's having a ton of fun and he has the option of trying to win a major half marathon or even a glorious training run of 20 weeks could make him a contender for world cross country champs podium.

What makes you think that? Rupp is only 2 seconds off Ritz in the 5000 and last year (7:30 for 3000 indoors and 26:44 for 10000) could arguably be called Rupp's best year ever so he could still be improving.
