Neely Spence Gracey quits Hansons ODP!!

Congrats on finishing top 10 at nationals in a club race. Hope that 1 free pair of shoes you got is lasting you.

It always is sad but not surprising to me that there are posters so immature, shallow and envious that they will trash people like the Hansons, who spend a boatload of their own money to support young athletes and improve US distance running.

You and your coach both sound like piece of sh*t people.

Be happy with your top 10 club finish. Probably the best you will ever get.

Pretty sure that my coach is not the only one that was proven correct that day.

If Ray Flynn can't get Brooks to extend the deal without the Hanson's then she will train with the BAA ladies. Flynn likes Mahon. The BAA women are already in Boulder.

And many times it is coming from those that were the biggest takers.

No inside knowledge, but smart money would have her being coached by Magness. Scooter has been a volunteer for him.

Mahon wouldn't touch Spence now.

Flynn might like Mahon, but didn't Rhines leave Ray?

anyone who starts with "i finished in the top 10 at CLUB NATS..." is by definition an emotional car wreck.

No reason to go there. Every situation where an athlete has left has been for different reasons. Hanson's provided an opportunity (free housing/travel/etc) that basically didn't exist for the type of runners they get. It works for some athletes and not for others.

Hopefully Neely can stay healthy/happy and enjoy her running for years to come.

My guess is she will be coached by Magness given that her husband is helping at Houston.

This is what usually happens when you have husband/wife situations where one is a coach.

The problem is that for the majority of them, it blows up in their face because it's like coaching yourself. You can't separate the lives and be objective.

Mahon is one of the exceptions who was able to do it.

If their smart, they do one of a few things. They move to altitude and join Ben Rosario's NAZ elite and focus on the roads, beg to get in with Mahon & BAA and stick to the 5k/10k on the track before moving up, or go to Magness and do a Sara Hall and mix track/roads for a while to get some good success for a while.

My money is on:

40% husband coaches

20% Magness

20% Big name shoe company group (BAA, Brooks Beasts, etc.

10% Hudson

10% other group
