No, I'm saying that because it lacks the very best runners in the world, of which Rupp is one. The last World XC championships, in March 2013, contained precisely zero medalists (men's or women's) from the 2012 Olympics. It's not just Rupp, it's everyone.

Go back to results from the 70's- the best in the world were there.
I DO think it has to be a bigger money event. These people are pro's and deserve to make a living at what they do.
The grass contains a lot of pollen which irritates Rupp's allergies. Also, there are often trees along XC course, so there's more pollen right there. It floats down from the tree branches right onto Rupp. At the same time, the pollen from the grass gets blasted up into the air, from all the foot striking during the race. It typically doesn't get too high, just 4 feet or so, but that's pretty close in height to Rupp's nose. So Galen is literally getting attacked from above and below with every step. Pollen, pollen everywhere. Still, I dunno why he doesn't just wear one of those masks like he did at the NYC Half. He's probably also worried about tripping over a tree root or getting his shoes wet from the dew. There are a lot of factors in an XC race and Alberto can't possibly control them all. So why not just run on a synthetic track inside a building, right? There's a lot less to worry about and you only have to beat like 8 guys to get a medal. In XC, you have to beat like 200 guys.

I remember this. It's an absolute horseshit excuse of course. The odds of getting injured in xc aren't any higher than they are for high level of track racing.

"Maybe I am thinking of that Bekele guy (not Bekele Debele, but the other one) I think running the WCCC always worked out pretty good for him, but he was able to run 45 secs faster than what you are saying.
So, it worked for EVERY medalist for the last 40 years, so 120 guys (I won't give the examples for the women - did any women ever run that race and go on to do anything in the 5k/10k?) for the last 40 years.
