How quickly people forget!!! Poor old Tergat, poor old Ngugi.

Dear Wannabekila,
Do you think that Paul or John in their best forms could have hold their own in a battle with Kenny when it comes to cross country?
It is not that I have forgotten about them (for me one of the best moments of cross country racing was when Ngugi jumped the 1m high barriers at the Antwerp world cross champs and just took off)
It is just that I think Kenny is physically a better runner then the two of them. I see him as a much better cross country runner compaired with what he shows on the track.
I think he will prove this by winning not just a couple of more World Cross country titles but hands full of them.

Like Geb, Bekele is a few years older than what he claims. He is also a great responder to drugs, as was Geb.
Hey "realistic", you and others have not answered my question yet. I know that you may say "neither", but really, when push comes to shove, who did you (and other drug accusers) prefer in yesterday's election, Bush or Kerry?

Bekele is a super-charged drug machine. Here we go again -- the "your jealous of his abilities" posters have their collective heads in the sand. I hope you guys don't also check your intellect at the door when you invest your money and educate your kids. Hey, do you guys remember the "new economy" from 1999? I bet you all made a killing on internet stocks too? "Hey, look Excite.com has no earning and is 1 billion in debt, I think I am going buy some of there stock and get rich because in the new economy companies don't need earnings or cash flow." These are the conversations I had in the 90s with the same people who now say, "don't call Bekele a drug cheat -- he's never failed a drug test." Only in America!
please present your evidence.
His manager said he would race 1500m this winter -- if the pace is right, he could break the WR.

Maybe!!! But don't forget that Bekele's "super kick" didn't have any effect on El Guerrouj at the world championships and at the Olympics. He will have to do a lot of work to get the kind of speed to run 3.26. Is it worth it? I think his future still the 5000, 10000 and further.
I believe as well that his 5000 world record will not stay very long if El Guerrouj tries to tackle it!
We have plenty of amazing races to come!!
Looking at the facts, Kenny won three doubles back to back in three years and gearing up for another doubles. Tergat, whom I admire greatly, won 5 races in 5 yrs and quit. Bekele, in spite of what he says, is still has a chance of winning another 3 or more doubles in a row. Granted, we want to call Tergat and others the best Cross Country runner ever. Then what are we going to call some one with resume that already has exceeded the best runner of our times?
Hey Sir Lance-alot,
Pliz be kind to those little-mind people. Becasue they have nothing to contribute to the discussion except bad mouthing good runners.
Sincerely
I was refeering to the indoor 1500m WR (3:31.18). Geb is the second fastest ever at 3:31.76, and likely would have gone faster has he not gone out so quick (1:53flat first 800m)
Geb is the best ever period!! -the Jordan of distance running- It was him who dropped the records at 5 and 10 by large margins (unbelieveable). Bekele would have to bring his current ones down dramitically to overthrow Selassie's greatness. I think El G will be closer to having the range the Emperor had(s). El G . . . man is he smooth at top speed or what!!
I couldn't agree more!

I think we're seeing something special with this Kenny dude. For his competition, I hope his future wife cooks up (and Kenny cooks up, for the pc's) some fattening food to slow him down.
Badnarik, with a lean towards Bush (he's less pro big government than Kerry).
Why is bekele not considered the best ever? He has the fastest times in the history of the world? If that is not evidence, then what is? Or is this the age old argument who is the best of "their time"? Like trying to compare George Mikan to Shaq?????
Has any one in the Oregon area read or heard about Bekele yet? Is there any sighting of him around Nike campus. I bet the 14 medal winners appearance in town should make it to local newspapers. Anyone with scoop?

He's the world record holder at 5k and 10k and he's a much better cross country runner than track runner? What does he have to do on the track?!!!? Run 11:59?
Culpepper (1996?) NCAA 5000, 1:08? last 500.
k. bekele is an astronaught from the lost hugonaughts that sailed to the NEBULUS of Evermore (cross reference Lord of the Rings, volume Revised).
I once saw him slaping a nary-stick on a piece of overgrown goad-juice. He looked at me and swallowed my soul with one gulp of his metaphorical hamstrings.

Bekele's professional running career has just begun as more productive years filled by recording making or breaking to come. I feel like yr 2004 was a warm period that would usher him to pursuing unprecedented record breaking performances to last for few more years to come. Assuming all things in his favor (i.e no injury etc.) the next 5-6 years would be a grand stage of Bekele's performances as he pursues all of his mentor's records and even bettering them.
His current state of mind shows nothing other than his focus in pursuing the above goals. Geb had set most of his records by the age of 29, and Bekele needs to start breaking records now - while young.
agreed.
assuming of course that he is in fact 22 (i see no reason to think otherwise, but some people do), i expect him to obliterate current records by large margins. he should not have yet hit his prime, and it is then that he will truly dominate. if he is on drugs or not is irellevent to this opinion.
Did anybody hear or have any evidence about the following rumor:
Did Kenny’s manager tell him to slow down in the last two or three laps of his 5000m race in Hengelo?
On his way to a blistering 12.34 / 12.35 he suddenly turned in laps of high 61’s and realizing he was slowing down to much, speeded up the last 200m.
Same thing kind of happened in Ostrava where he was running exactly or even slower than the WR pace and then speeded up the last couple of laps to brake the WR.
Does anybody have the split times of his race in Hengelo?
Imagine a middle distance runner trying to do the Bubka trick.
