$10 Billion: What would you do?

Set up trust for each kid of mine (2) - $1 billion each to be gotten after they graduate from college.

Give a billion each to my brother and sister.

Give a billion to my wife's brother and his family.

Give whatever my parents and inlaws would want at this point. They are all in their 70s and don't need ANY money let alone a billion. Probably a million each or so would do it for them. I'd give more if they wanted...actually just so they can give if they want, I'd give them each $50 million.

Keep $1 billion for my wife and me.

That leave a tad less than $4 billion. With that I would set up a stream of giving that would go to the charities of my choice. Money continues as long as i am pleased with what they do.

Offer 1 Billion Dollar to the first man to break the 2 hour barrier in the Marathon. They have to pass the doping tests of course. This might motivate the top African so form a team that would form a wedge to set up a draft for someone to break it. It would be fun. I think my money is safe for many years. I would also buy an island and form my own country with no laws except my own and lot of guns.

Because it is overrated. You do it a couple of times for the experience and then you move on.

I realise it may be overrated. But how many do it even a couple of times? Even once? (By the way, I wasn't particularly referring to threesomes - they may be overrated. I was more referring to sex with a variety of beautiful women.)

I imagine most people would assume opulence is overrated too:

Living in a 10,000 sq ft house, with expensive collections of cars, art, private cinema, private jet, millions on wine, jewellery, clothes etc.

Do these things bring much extra happiness, pleasure, contentment, joy, fun or whatever? Probably not, but it seems most billionaires will indulge in these things but stay married to their average/ugly wives.

Quite my job. Been here almost 30yrs. Take care of both kids and grandchildren. Then train like a madman.

Like a previous poster said I would invest and live off of the profit but that would only be for $5b. The other $5b, I would build the nicest indoor track facility in California. I know that we don't need it but it would be fun to have. I would purchase a ton of large apartment complexes and industrial parks and allow my two best friends create business to manage them; they could have 100% of the profit. I'd probably also give them $1m to buy a home and have some savings. I'd take care of some of my family members and other friends; nothing too crazy unless they wanted to start a business.

I would create the largest PAC with its sole purpose to get money out of politics. I'd pull a Rockefeller by out spending my competition in a market (politics) and then change the game once I won.

I would the find 4-6 of the best people to run our country regardless if they have the same political beliefs as me and pay them to run for national office.

My main focus would be to bring manufacturing back to the US. I would start by making pants, look down, do you have pants on? I would target companies that I knew I could bring down, reverse engineer their items, and then start manufacturing in the US. I'd employ people who were from the local community and then give the business to my best employee (while keeping a small share 5-10%)

Lastly, I'd start a network of vocational schools that would educate people who need skills. I'd make it a requirement that they take entrepreneur courses so they can have the tools to be self employed.

You think the rich don't have a lot of sex partners AND a spouse. I guarantee the the super rich have different ideas than ours of marriage

Not all chicks... Just the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me.

Single male, no kids, only child, 30 years old.

1. Buy an NFL team and be CEO as my full-time job. I'd probably wait 5-10 years to give myself some free time.

2. Build a very nice house for my parents with a suite for myself. Room for future caretakers that my dad will need due to ongoing, unavoidable health problems.

3. Clear all debt for family members, maybe buy a few people houses, help with renovations, etc.

4. Invest in businesses in the industry of their choice for many of those family members to operate. After they are paid a generous salary, profits would be split with their share going to buy the business from me in a 15-20 year time frame. At least one of these would be a farm, probably 2-3. Each of these businesses would have a board of directors composed of uncles/aunts with relevant business experience.

5. Build a massive vacation home on a ski resort in Colorado or Utah with enough room for all of my extended family(cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents) to sleep comfortably. This would be used for an extended family vacation every winter.

6. Various philanthropy, I haven't thought through the specifics.

7. For investments I would primarily invest in low risk investments. I would probably devote about 1 billion for more aggressive investments in tech startups because I understand the tech industry better than any other industry.

A couple of notes, most of my family have decent jobs, own houses, and many own small businesses already. No multi-millionaires or anything, but almost everyone is doing okay.

Overall I would make sure that everyone in my family would have the opportunity to live upper-middle class lifestyles, but probably not a ton more than that, except for one of my cousins who I'm really tight with.

I would start a charity whose sole purpose was to run an annual contest that gave a $50M prize to people who came up with various breakthroughs in medicine, science, etc. Would probably need to put up $1B for the initial endowment. Would sock away a billion in various investments to ensure security for both me and my family. I would blow $1B on life. I would give the other $7B away as I am set.
