2. Why must "retarded" be used as an insult? It is a medical term, and its use as an insult depersonalizes persons with developmental disabilities.

Hard to tell if responses are coming from males or females. Female poster here..... I think flowers are always a nice gesture (just not super cheap ones you grab at the grocery store). If she somehow freaks out about them, then she's way too high maintenance and not for you.

I like the grocery store flowers.. Cheap and fun! I hate the $70 arrangements, waste of money. My poor husband though he was being sweet when we were dating and bought me flowers to be delivered a couple days before I left on a trip... I was so annoyed at the waste of money.
If you messed up...apologize for your actions. No flowers are needed. A sincere apology will go much further than an empty gesture. If she doesn't accept, then move on.
To get the best read on this we really would need to know what you did. If you cheated and lied about it that's different than if you said something that she didn't like.
