Sounds to me like when she was put on the spot by the reporter's phone call after the race, she couldn't even quickly think of what a legitimate half split would be for her finish time so said she came through in 1:37. And it sounds like the race is a two loop course, so it's not like there would be a legitimate reason to run 20 minutes faster in the second half of the race. Give liars a shovel and they always dig themselves even deeper.

1:18 half marathon is in the 6 min/mile neighborhood. Maybe she could post a video of herself running a single 6 minute mile on a track? That ought to be very easy for anyone capable of running a 1:18 half marathon.

Gotta love the fact that most if not all accused cheaters indignantly deny cheating. Cliches are also often invoked (Throwing down the hammer etc). This woman, KL, the Faux Farah, etc. She could produce the swath of witnesses telling the story of how a woman blew by them in the second half of the race with I would bet the fastest split of anyone in the race (1:18).

I did almost all of my high school long runs at the Chickamauga Battlefield, and would often see other runners (although by no means out en masse). It has a nice trail network to keep you well off the roads.

I was there to watch one of my runners (Suffer-Jet City TC...shameless plug) win the concurrent half marathon, but I missed seeing this woman finish. I was writing Part Two of the Jeptoo mess for the Kimbia.net site, and this cheating example fell into my lap. So I added Tabatha's Bewitching tale as a postscript. Ya, I was listening to a buncha Bowie and had just been to London where they had a Victoris&Albert(?) museum Bowie retrospective timed to coincide with his latest record release. Another allusion we use is the singlet and gear lettering is an imitation of the legendary Athletics West font. Anyway, didn't mean to go off track, so to speak, here. Funny to see Chatt make the Letsrun big time with this fool's fiasco. We should write her a check !

Can we get a picture of her? I don't think it would be too difficult to tell the difference between a female who finishes a marathon in 2:55 vs 6hrs+.

If she has cankles then it pretty much removes all doubt that she cut the course.

There is a picture on the first page. She isn't fat, but she isn't a sub 3 marathon runner for sure.

Looks like the average woman you'd see at a health club, with the tubby gene that could be easily activated later in life.

OMG, now I know why Gemkow's name is so familiar to me. A few years ago, probably 2008, I remember reading about her because she was selected as a Chicago Athlete of the month or something similar. Being the competitve-minded person that I was at the time, I athlink'd her and saw her results weren't up to par for being an athlete of the month for whichever publication I was reading. She had one marathon time that was decent, but the rest of her race times were awful. I actually thought about calling her, or the magazine, out on it in some way, but this was before Twitter was a thing and I had no idea letsrun existed back then.

Anyway, sorry to hack this thread. I'm growing more and more pissed at our runner brothers and sisters after all the crap news out there lately. (Jeptoo and now this).

At any rate, his b*tch needs to get hers. And the fact that people are siding with her, via the linked survey, makes my blood boil.

I mean, do we have to start checking the results of our races to make sure anyone who finished ahead of us is legit? (Oh wait, this is letsrun, y'all are All Americans and OQers and rarely lose).
