AIC had a great day. They'll be tough to beat at Regionals if they run that well again. It will be interesting to see how everybody recovers from the course.
What did Stonehill do that bothered you? They seemed to be cheering when AIC got their awards, and had a solid day racing.
Queens College won't be racing at regionals because their program doesn't have the budget to fund a trip
pile up in mom's mini van or cross over, swap out drivers, eat PBJ and Ritz and bananas, sleep in WalMart parking lots, if you need to shower sneak into an empty hospital room but bring your own towel
sounds like a road trip to me. cost the school nothing

FPU will bounce back a lot from NE-10's. All that lifting, raking, shoveling, spreading mulch, stump removal, ect, the teams did on the course that final week fried them, smart coach. Now that it is behind them and they will be ready to roll for this weekend.
Just saw this on Queens College. Grew up a mile away, many friends went there. Always root for them, used their track when I started running.
Sorry to hear they don't have funds to send a team. The AD probably could have found $$ if he really wanted to.
This makes no sense. Driving to the meet on their own cannot be an NCAA violation...if it is, why would they not just drive there and not say anything? It's not like there are meet officials who follow the teams to their buses after the meet.
Speaking of which, this college must be tottering on the brink of financial ruin if they don't have the budget to send a couple of vans to a meet.
It may be a violation as there are probably some liability issues in terms of who is driving to an official NCAA competition.
That being said, at Furman back in the day our men's team once carpooled up to the Louisville in a Toyota Camry. No one cared.
Queens, sorry to hear that you won't be at Regionals. To me, if you're going to have a team, any sport, the minimum commitment that you should make to the student-athletes on those teams is: 1) You're going to race the meet that gives you the chance to qualify for the national championship, 2) You're going to race in your conference championship, 3) You're going to race in at least as many meets as you need to be eligible to compete at nationals, should any of your student-athletes qualify. I'd say that about any sport...If you're going to have a team gives your student-athletes the chance to qualify for NCAA's.
I understand budget issues that colleges go through and certainly don't envy the job that any AD has to balance the books and be fair to all teams that a school sponsors. Looking at the Queens XC schedule, it's definitely bare bones...5 meets, 3 on Long Island and 1 less than 15 miles away in NJ. Conference meet was way out in Rochester. Queens has 20 sports. Looking at some other schedules, looks like they are not scheduling big seasons for many of them (Swimming, only 9 meets plus conference). Tough spot to be in if you're on those teams.
There are 38 schools in the east region, I think nearly all have XC teams, but every year there are only about 30 racing Regionals. I wish that wasn't the case.

As usual Stoney was ready for regionals despite an up and down regular season.
RW jumps up from NAIA and put together a solid team effort.
I really thought FPU was playing possum at the NE10's and saving themselves for regionals. Can't imagine how Gisore and Rugabirwa dropped a combined 39 places from last years finish.
The women's side went pretty much as expected. It's good to see some quality competition from RW to keep Stonehill women on their toes.

Good guys, but I don't think ether ran a step over the summer. At least thats what they told us when we talked at Lehigh. The region got alot stronger and they took it for granted. You could argue the top 6 teams from this past weekend could have all placed in the top 2 last year. It could be even stronger next year. They'll be fine for track I'm sure but they really screwed the pooch in xc.
no, you couldn't. This region was 4 good teams (in theory). Three showed to be contenders. 1 showed to be a pretender. The addition of RW is great btw...maybe they will be what FP thought they were...

No matter what FP did last year or this year, the insecure athletes at stonehill would have still bashed them "anonymously." So none of these arguments are anything beyond trolling.
