I think deep down we know what the root cause is. We just dont want to talk about it. A life of enslavement is preferred by most, apparently.
The woman is a victim, therefore the rightful owner of her newly enslaved man. The empowerment of women is becoming the destruction of mankind. And the public is thoroughly enjoying the show.

Ray deserves what he is getting. Never should a hit her. But I'm going to say this...I'm a male who has been a victim of domestic abuse for many years. My fiance would get drunk and become violent...hitting...pushing...slapping...attacking me physically and verbally. I never hit her back..I would restrain her at times though...and when I did that she would fake cry and start yelling that I hurt her. I think it is redicoulous how some woman think its okay to hit guys and get away with it. Its not! We can all sit here and not say a damn word...but his wife needs help too. She was slapping and going after him which is nottttt okay! Ray Rice is a punk. He should be prosecuted. But I'm not going to let his wife get by playing victim victim. She obviously has anger issues as well. She needs domestic violence counseling too. People will bash me but that's probably because you have not been in the situations I have. Everyone laughs off domestic violence against men. But you don't get it.. Its not like I was beaten up and scared...it was the mental aspect of the abuse. I became a wreck mentally.

Umm no, I think he's talking about domestic violence. There have been many cases where police officers beat their wives and then their pals end up doing the investigation, and everything gets nicely covered up. Try to keep up.

Yep. The ONLY lesson the NFL has given it's players is that if you whoop on your girl, be sure nobody videos it.

Not surprising for NFL or Baltimore, who just this past week unveiled their "heroic" statue of Ray Lewis in front of the stadium. This was a guy who committed actual murder and got away with it.
Football will always be a sport full of hyper-steroided violent thugs.
I don't think it's the media, I think it's the actual image of him knocking her out. It's too violent to be forgotten. That is the image that will be associated with his name and jersey. No sponsor is going to allow that image to be associated with their brand, especially since women buy more NFL merchandise than men.

Except that what you are seeing (public outrage, NFL ban...) has nothing to do with the US justice system.
Will the NFL act the same when it's a real big NFL star that gets accused BUT there's no video?
When you set yourself up as judge n jury how far are you willing to go up the moral high road?
Slap your lady get cut, deal drugs- what does that bring? How about charged with murder like Ray Lewis? What if you beat up a dude? Is that "better" violence?

That is exactly what is happening with Ray. EVERYONE knew he hit his wife, he didn't tickle her into unconsciousness in that elevator (credit joke to Jenny Johnson on twitter).
There was some uproar but nothing compared to when the video came out. Now he has lost his career, JUST BECAUSE OF THE VIDEO, not because of the abuse itself which was already known about.
a two-game suspension for knocking out a woman? that was absurd. the key point you're missing is that the punishment meted out by the nfl did not fit the crime. if the initial punishment had been reasonable, the outcry wouldn't have been as big. the video itself highlighted the point that the initial suspension was a disgrace.
i would blame the nfl for not handling the situation from the start. they enabled the media frenzy as a result.
As someone who recently moved to Baltimore, I'm very much into the Ray Rice situation.
A few comments.
The lynch mob mindset blows my mind. We all knew he knocked his girlfriend out. That should have been more than a 2 game suspension. But this is a guy from what I can tell had been in zero trouble before, whom the prosector let join a pre-trial diversion program, who has done a lot in town.
Now the video comes out and there is a lynch mob? I don't like the double jeopardy. Everyone - the NFL, the prosecutors and Ravens - had already made a punishment. Now they are totally changing it.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not condoning what he did. One of the three rules my father gave me as a child was never to hit a woman. I remember that and would never consider it (I believe my mom actually tried to amend it and say something if it was being attacked i could).
But does anyone besides me think it's weird there is so much outrage over this crime? We're constantly told that there should be more women CEOs, a woman president, etc but the moment there is a fight between a man and a woman, society acts like it's 1820. I'm curious to what true feminists think about this.
Yes he's way bigger and way stronger. His actions are indefensible even if she was coming at him. But this is an assault case.
Others in the NFL have done worse stuff but since there is no video of it (crimes, fathering tons of children and not supporting them), there is zero outrage.
Compare Ray Rice to Brandon Marshall of the Bears:
Ben Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault twice. Yes, he wasn't convicted. But if the NFL is going to use the legal system's decision as the basis for its decisions, well then Ray Rice is in a pre-trial diversion program. He has married the woman as well.
It will be interesting to see what happens down the road. Here in town, they are trying to make it illegal for employers to ask on the initial job application if a person has been convicted of a crime. That can only be asked later in the process as they want to give people a chance for redemption after mistakes.
That type of think is in stark contrast to the lynch mob mindset on the national media.
