And the comparison to the men's 800 is a bad comparison.

The winning time is faster than the US men's high school record and US men's junior record. That was one of the fastest junior 800 champs in history. Everyone from 1-7th set PRs.

The women's 1500 by comparison was slower. Slower than the US women's junior record, than Alexa's PR, and only a second faster than Elise's. Not an analogous comparison to the men's 800.

I still don't really get your point. Juniors is a different level of competition than HS. There are many American Junior records that are significantly faster than HS records.

And the brute fact is that there is no effective age regulation at World Juniors, which makes any comparison to American HS pretty much meaningless.

Cranny beats Efraimson...stunning!

Both Ethiopians should have been dq'd - the winner for pushing Alexa, and the 2nd placer for cutting off the Kenyan down the stretch. The Kenyan should have been dq'd for looking like a guy. (all 3 are likely age cheats anyway, and one gender cheat as well). The pole should have not been allowed in the race for dropping out of the 3000m (transgressed honest effort rule), and hit Canadian as she went by her anyway. This puts Cranny and Alexa as first and second - no one else deserved the bronze, they were all running too slow anyway. Where is Alberto when you need him? Why hasn't he got these others dq'd yet so the rightful owners can collect their medals.

Man, based on what everyone is saying I bet Cain could have won the 100 as well! Amazing!

4th and 6th in the 1500, along with 1st in the 3000, is the best the US Juniors have ever done, so congratulations to all three.

Efraimson may have faded in the last 100, but she went for it. As for all the know-it-alls suggesting that she does not understand racing at a high level, do you recall that she won a high level collegiate race while still a junior in HS? I presume all you guys saying that 'she doesn't get it' were doing that at the age of 12? Ugh.

Cranny didn't look thin. She looks (in person), a bit like an ex-gymnast. Very strong shoulders and arms.

She has perfected beating Efraimson.

No she hasn't Efraimson beat her at NXN and USA Junior trials. The trials were just a few weeks ago. I think Cranny beat her at Portland track festival last year so she's 2 for 2.

Efraimson is a 17 year old junior in high school and will be eligible to return to this meet in two years. She showed a lot of heart in the race but needs to work on her tactics and positioning a bit.

I hope she doesn't go pro just yet. I don't think she's quite ready.

Mind you so is Tsegay (though she won't likely stoop to that level in a couple of years, although makiing their Olympic team is tough). Not sure if any of the other finalists will be eligible.

Emphraimson may have to choose between making the Olympic team or going to this meet - in Russia (of all places). In two years she could be running under 4.00 and fighting for a spot on the OG team.
