Prices are insane. It seems hypocritical to keep supporting stuff like this and be anti-flotrack cost. A pair of shorts cost about a year membership.

I'm going to take a leap and say isn't Tracksmith's target audience. If it is, well...they're in trouble.

I'd wear the singlet

I can only speak for myself, but I appreciate the attention to detail in the design of the items. As I see it, this start up is attempting to put together a curated line of high quality items that are made in the USA. I can get behind that idea. The price for the split shorts is $1 more than my Patagonia shorts.

I've run in all kinds of running gear and I've found that the running companies make the worst running gear. By worst I mean least durable and ugliest given the price. A $32 pair of Nike split shorts is half the price, but nonetheless a poor value in my opinion.

This is predicated on the stuff being good quality. I haven't run in any yet. But, if it's like my Patagonia running gear, it is absolutely worth double the price.

I thought the clothes looked great. There is a market for this product. This is not unlike some other high-end athletic gear company like lululemon.

Gotta love the market though. They'll probably find *just enough* douchey New Englanders - that have too much money to realize they're douches - to make their nut and stay afloat. Sell junk at high enough cost and watch the hordes of clueless white people flock to it, credit cards in hand. Kind of disgusting, really. Like a George A Romero flick.

Try the Sugoi 42k short.

Looks like nice stuff. I'm in the business. Most faster runners who are likely to wear shorter running shorts (4" or less) are not likely to spend $60. Those who pay that much, I think will prefer longer shorts.

This Tracksmith stuff isn't very practical based on price alone. Reminds me of the Ralph Lauren adds where they show models geared up in RL looking like they are doing serious mountaineering.

-The fabric, called "2:09 Mesh", is from Switzerland

-The design was inspired by Cornell's sashing ceremony

-It comes with gold safety pins

-The design was inspired by ancient heraldry and Cornell (in case I forgot?)

-The Bill Rodgers ran 2:09 in a shirt nothing like this one

-You don't have to be in a race to wear it

-It might have been made in New England

-An investment banker wore the singlet during a 20x400 workout at the Harvard track.

-His last 400 was 59.3

After reading the description of the singlet, I don't know:

-What material it's made of

-Which size will fit me best

So what we have here is J. Peterman running apparel.

I like the fact that the designs are simple and they are made in America using a high quality Swiss mesh. I am the type of person that pays for quality. Most of the time, you get what you pay for.

But the whole New England Ivy thing is a bit overdone and off putting. Perhaps they feel like they can carve out a market among upper middle class runners in New England. That fine, I understand that luxury goods are not made to appeal to proles like us. But why create a design that looks so pretentious and is immediately off putting to so many people.

That said, I'll probably get a pair of the shorts.

Good Lord. I'm having a hard time believing this entire line isn't satire. Could anything do a worse job capturing the essence of VCP than this stuff?

Wait, people run in shirts? Real runners go shirtless

I like the looks of some of the stuff but no way I would pay that much for running gear.
