This is something that has always made me laugh with many different counter culture groups and I guess it makes me laugh here too.
Specifically it those individuals who come out and say that something is totally trendy or cliche or passe and only a complete loser "would still being doing" whatever it is, because the people doing it are just sheep following a trend. You see the irony is that the naysayers are sheep too. They are just following different trend.
If you choose not to do something simply because "everyone else is" you aren't an individual you are the other side of the same coin. You are allowing trends to dictate your behavior without actually looking at the value of the thing in question. further, more often than not, the trend buckers are part of a little group who are all too cool too. Just little sheep following their own little trend.
In this case our little group is "too cool" to wear those silly trendy liveSTRONG braclets. They get up on their high horse and loadly proclaim how cool they are for not wearing them, and how un-cool everyone who wears them is. How they donate anonomously and don't need to advertise it by wearing a braclet. Of course they feel perfectly comfotable pumping themselves up on a news group.
I kind of feel bad for these people. In my experience these groups are far more fickel about what is cool and not cool than the "trend obsessed" mainstream. Imagine a goth kid who showed up to school in a pair of pleated dockers and a button down!
Too bad. I guess, I probably played this game as a kid too. With my Smiths t-shirts etc, but I do remember a healthy obsession with Harry Anderson, Night Court and the fedora...Never caught on with anyone else though....No matter I liked it and now I like my liveSTRONG braclets, as I did in early June and as I will next June when I everyone else has forgotten about them. Now if I could only get me some Night Court DVD's....
