Is it possible that it's psychological? Have you ever felt terrible during a race and had the pressure get to you so much that you wished something terrible would happen? That you'd fall or faint or puke so you didn't have to deal with fading and losing? Falls happen occasionally but when they happen this often and apparently only in big-profile meets, it makes me wonder if it's in her head.

At least she got up and finished the race. I think that was the most significant step in her mental progress with this tripping problem. There is only one goal - finish the race!

11 WC, 12 Oly, some race in Europe and now this.

Is that right?

One question. Can someone review the video and tell me if she rolls to the outside of into the far lanes? Would you subconsciously do that to avoid being trampled if it were incidental contact by accident? Not speculating, just want to know if runners ever get trampled, spiked if they fall in a 1500. I've never seen it, so I assume this was an accident.

she's been rockin the dog hemp collar for some time. that chunky hemlock rope of wound up burlap has got some bad joo joo and about 2 pounds extra weight..

Just a coincidence people. She got clipped by McGee. Did you see where she looked up to see who did this right after her fall? Nothing psychological here...it just happened.

2010 Zurich. From 2010 to 2012 Uceny falls in the most important race of the year. It seemed like this time it was accidental, but so did all the other times. She never falls in low-key, no-pressure races.

I was at Sacto. And one of the most interesting things I overheard, was an elites parents talking about how different things are behind the scenes compared to what gets reported in the running press, and the nonsense on these boards.

People like you spend way too much time over reading, and over reacting to things in a confirmation bias kind of way.

Get off the board and go to a meet, and what you will find is the athletes stopping and signing for fans, fans getting pictures taken with athletes, athletes parents sitting in the stands, sharing "behind the scenes" stories, and all the nonsense on LRC, is considered stupidity.

I think it is coincidence, there is nothing wrong with the way she runs or her positioning...I think it is just bad luck. Unfortuntely, being a smart racer is her best weapon, she does not have the strenght or speed to run from the back or front.

What are you going on about. Lots of runners and people in every sport/profession/etc. get stuck in a world of expectation that causes them to continue doing something they hate.

As they try to deal with that they find all sorts of coping mechanisms. If you think subconsciously sabotaging oneself when the pressure is on is not one of them, then you are naive.

A runner has had a couple of falls in tight championship races. They get nicked in another tight race. The first time there is any contact at all move up, and move out of traffic. Track is one of the easiest sports in terms of being able to control the outcome. Just move away from trouble and run your race. Not sure why Uceny keeps falling. I didn't see any contact. It looked like she tripped herself.

No reason for us to pile on. I'm sure she feels terrible about this and can't figure it out. It is actually fairly hard for a slight collision to cause a fall. In workouts, there is frequent contact but never a fall.
