Any idea where Penn State will go? Gondak promoted to Sullivans position?

Smart move by her. Penn States interim AD resigned so they are currently looking for a new AD.

I think it's a lot of coaches dream until they realize what it really takes to be competitive in the SEC.

JJ Clark was making $246,800. That would have to paid at least that much too BAS. That is a hell of a lot of money and if she got a five year contract that is lots of security. Her husband is a professor at Penn State so they had to make it worth their time to take the job. And if UT supports the program she will do a very good job of creating a full team atmosphere.

Penn State should hire the #1 track and field coach in the Northeast - Nathan Taylor of Cornell.

He wins coach of the year every single year despite being at the least famous of the Ivies.

Amazing jumps coach - maybe the best in the country - two national titles in that. They've now got monster throwers there now. A few years ago, he had and an Ivy League team to NCAAs in the 4 x 100, spanish national record in the 200.

What else can he do at Cornell?

And the Tenn thread said his kids are now in college.

No brainer. If he ever wants to leave, now is the time.

And the alums will like him as unlike Beth he has a personality.

Tennessee, Welcome to the Beth Alford Sullivan show where everything is made up and the atheletes don't matter. That's right the athlete's are like Kate Upton's face.

But seriously great news for Penn State and the well being of their track and xc members.

Being competitive in the SEC better not 'take' early morning practices, a training schedule that is updated yearly, or actually talking with her athletes (outside of recruiting and faking it when parents are present) because those things are probably not going to happen with Beth as the head coach.

Most head coaches are that way during recruiting. You mostly deal with you event coach once you're on campus which is why most of the successful programs have 20 coaches on staff(slight exaggeration) most head coaches only train 1 group so irmshe has problems with her coaching ability it would only effect 1 event group on the track. The key would be to hire great assistants. I don't know much about her but based on her resume she's a good hire. From what I heard of sec track you either have to be immoral or lose. But that's just Hear say,no first hand accounts

Bite your tongue! (Okay, your fingers--I realize you're typing, not speaking...) Cornell needs Nathan to stay for many more years--the rest of the century, say.

Nathan's about 60 now, but certainly youthful--and I remember that PSU kept Harry Groves till he was at least 75. So yeah, maybe it would be a smart move for them to try to hire RNT away from Cornell. I just hope that he'd resist: maybe because he'd not be interested in starting over at a new school, or something. Whatever--Cornell needs to retain educators like Nathan!

It was an improvement over the last few years of Groves tenure. Team auto qualified in 2008 and at-large in 2010.

Never got to the level of the 70's and 80's under her however (minus the mid-d group but that was Gondak).

Penn State is a sleeping giant if they make right hire IMO. And the AD has recent record of making the right hires.

Bill O'Brien and James Franklin have been great for the football program, Cael Sanderson resurrected the wrestling team, lacrosse make a big hire recently.
