This is why USATF is so bad. There are so many other stories to be covered to promote people competing now. It's run by backward thinking people who have no idea how to promote the sport. Don't get me wrong, Webb is a nice guy and was a great runner at one time but doing this now makes zero sense.

Appreciate it. More tracks should be designed that way. I've seen it before, just never knew where/what it was.

I don't understand why this makes USATF look bad? Am I missing something? Seems like the perfect time to do this. Webb did a ton for distance running in the US. Like Chris S said, there wasn't much money from shoe companies before Webb. Dumb comment.

I thought that Alan looked like he was 25 when he ran 3:53 in high school. Now that he is 31 he looks like he is 50. This could just be a guy who is ageing too quickly. I hope not. Wish him the best.
If someone wished me the best that way- I'd rather they'd keep quiet. Webb's a self-made Olympian, millionaire, family man & great guy by all accounts. He looks healthy & happy to me.

Of course he looks old. Everything about him shows that he matured and aged much faster than a typical person.
The thought that injuries slowed him this much is complete bollocks.
Watch his last race and it's eye-opening to see his ex-teammates contending for the win while he struggles at the back like somebody let Coghlan in on a special exemption.
