Ya no kidding, if they try to run sub 2 it will look alot like London the year before last. Only with more carnage as 2 years ago the first half was 61:30 and everyone self destructed later in the race. If they were seriously anywhere near 60 I'd be surprised if people finished better than 2:08 and that would probably be a stretch.

Big races like this are usually more for the competition than a record chase, as everyone is obviously gunning to win and not everyone has in mind the race plan of run the most even fast race you can. Competitors are going to surge and attempt breaks...all of which is inherently unfavorable for a record.

I'd be shocked if the winner ran under 2:04. I suspect winning time will be high 2:04 or low 2:05 depending on race dynamics and assuming good conditions.

I see zero discussion elsewhere about Ibrahim's debut.

Did he DNF? He was on ~2:11 pace according to the website.

I was very excited by the competition between Jeilan and Farah.
