I literally told my wife what I want is hot "girlfriend" sex with her dressed up in lingerie. If I want an iPad I'll go get one.

It always seems weird to me when adults are going on about christmas gifts. If someone says s/he doesn't want anything, then respect that and don't get anything. This person is, presumably, an adult. He or she can go buy whatever he or she wants.
My wife and I both come from families where the adults don't get christmas/birthday/hallmarkholiday presents. (in my family, the last gift is on the 18th b-day, in my wife's it is on christmas the year you turn 21). After that, you are one of the grown-ups and can go get a job and buy whatever you feel like you want. The end result is that on christmas, we have a family get-together, eat and drink too much and watch the kids open gifts. No pressure, no competition and no hurt feelings. Fantastic.

Never buy clothes. Ever. Because if you buy in her actual size, she will tell you it's too big, and life sprials downhill from there.

What is means is that she is trying to figure out if you got her a gift. You need to figure out if she is the type of person that needs gifts. Some people don't, and if they say no gift, they mean it. Others need gifts from their significant other and if you don't, you are telling her that she is not worthy. So figure that out first.
Honestly I think if anyone says something like that they pretty much deserve to get nthing. It annoys me when people say stuff they dont mean. Having said that, the answer is NO, they don't mean it.
