In the DFW area there are only enough sand trucks to cover the bridges and overpasses. With winter weather being a rarity, it is actually cheaper for the community to shut down for a day or two than it is to buy and maintain plows and other necessary maintenance vehicles.
They made the right call. Also glad they cancelled before the expo opened so you didn't waste time going to packet pickup. They've already announced that no entry fees will be refunded. However, all money raised is donated to the Texas Rite Hospital.
I'm glad someone else on here feels the same way I do. I am so pissed right now! And to top it all off, they send us that patronizing e-mail, "We respect your efforts." No you don't. So, I want my money back. I think it's wrong of them to not give it back, they have cancellation insurance. So, I think that just because they think they don't have to give it back doesn't mean they are allowed to keep it.
I called my bank today and told them I want the money back and I filed a claim. What else can I do?

no refunds - the city cancelled the race - not the race organizer- you'll have to go after the city for the refund, not the people who have worked long hours to make the race happen.

Funny story, last winter we had a foot of snow and I went to my CrossFit box and the instructor was like "we're doing sprints". No one complained about it. Everyone went for it. Best workout ever. That's what separates the men from the boys.
Stop whining people! I live in the area and was supposed to run. I am in 1:10 shape for the half and looked forward to the cooler temps. But that ice is no joke. We have 500,000 people still without power. The temps will be in the 20s for the next 2 days so the 1 inch of ice on the roads is going nowhere.

Even if you assume that those making decisions are a bunch of ignorant lardass cowpokes, if self-interest had been the order of the day, they would have allowed the race go on to ensure more revenue from the staggering number of out-of-towners who would have showed up and spent cash on local businesses. Those who can't grasp the fact that Dallas is simply not equipped to clear the road quickly under these conditions can go ahead and ask why Boston has a shortage of tornado shelters the next time a freak twister ravages the place.
