Aron Carter,
Are you a British citizen? I was told last year by the London Marathon office that the preferred starts(Good for Age) are only available to British citizens. I had run 3:03 last year and my time goal which I gave to the office was in the 2:50's. I was way under my good for age standard. Were the time corrals fenced or otherwise well-controlled? It seemed important to avoid being back in the general start pack. So many runners had told me that the packed start and the crowded narrow roads would negate any benefit from the fast course.
On the plus side, I ended up going to Hamburg which is a tremendous event in a great town.
