What's the strangest thing you've found on a run?

In the woods by my house I tend to see a fair amount of tampon applicators.

That doesn't sound very strange, unless there was a dead hooker attached to the wallet.

On a long run in Winston-Salem there was what became known as the "Helmet of Doom"

In the Presidio there was a dead raccoon with a cigarette stuck in it's mouth and an empty Sierra Nevada bottle stuck between it's "arms".

I found a box hanging on a tree a few hundred meters inside the woods near a park. Stopped and looked into the box. It was full of condoms and marked with "Be responsible!" or something similar. A young guy I had just passed stood about 30 meters away and just gazed at me. Then I suddenly realized that I had only seen men walking on the numerous trails around there. Got a creepy feeling and got the f*ck out of there. Turned out it was an area where old men meet young guys.

I found a gun on a trail. I had just passed a guy walking his dog from the other direction, so I assume it was his. Just a tiny (but functional) handgun that would easily fit in a pocket. I stashed it behind a log (didn't feel like carrying it for miles, and didn't want to leave it there).

I once found a clear plastic bag of what appeared to be deer legs. I don't know much of anything about hunting - maybe that is standard procedure after killing some deer?

Recently I found an empty box that had contained a "love doll" (inflatable). It was named "Officer Sukkitt". In the illustration, she was dressed up like a hot police officer with an attitude. She looked a bit like Axl Rose when he used to wear that cop hat.

Dead body on the lakefront in Chicago. Saw ambulance going out, police and coroner coming back.

Running down an out-of-use railroad, I found an old graveyard with headstones from the 1760's, I thought that was pretty cool. Not necessarily weird though...

I was several miles from home on a brand new road. I saw something shiny on the blacktop on a very hot day. It looked to be a socket from a socket set. I didn't pick it up because I figured it would be too hot to touch.

The next day it was cloudy, so I picked it up and put it in my pocket. It was indeed a socket from a socket set. I quickly put it in my pocket and finished my run.

When I got home I found that it was exact size and brand of a socket I had lost from my own set more than 15 years earlier.

True story.

My teammate threw a bottle at me and from the smell I deduced that it was piss. Luckily I threw a bottle back at him so we didn't arouse any suspicion coming back to campus smelling like pee.

Ah, yes. We saw a lot of these during my college days. We did our morning run at 6am during the week.

At my 25th reunion, I was out for a run early Saturday morning and caught a student walking back to her dorm, just like the good old days.

Might not be too strange but here it goes,

-an empty pizza box in the middle of a desolate trail

-a condom on a road

-a dead javelina along a community sidewalk

-a full can of beer in a parking lot

-a running shoe hanging from a telephone wire

-a homeless person sleeping along the canal (at first I thought it was a dead body but saw him move...)

Another +1 for a dildo, although the one I saw was electric (vibrator?), and it was on the grass across the street from a grocery store. I saw it for months when I\'d do my long run around town, with it was sitting in the same visible spot beside the sidewalk.

Other strange find was poop on a glove beside a main campus road, as if a guy had pooped on his glove and thrown it down. Who does that??!
